****, one of my favourite router companies is about to be bought by the ****test networking manufacturer I've ever used. That sucks.

I can't believe there are people out there that actually like Linksys.

Maybe because of Cisco?

OT I'm after one of those top of the range ASUS routers. On topic, I had linksys router for years and it never put a foot wrong. Had Belkin stuff that I binned within days!

Cisco makes good stuff no doubt but the Linksys line to me was always terrible. Granted every other company made garbage too until ASUS started making them, but aside from the WRT54G I've hated every Linksys router I've used for one reason or another.

ASUS RT-N66U best router ever made man. I've never run the stock firmware, but with DDWRT the thing is awesome.

Well, that's probably because there are loads of custom firmware made for it. Otherwise, Linksys products are just the same ol' run-of-the-mill products like everything else. I've avoided Linksys products ever since TP-Link came into the networking scene. D-Link was still a consideration (way) back then when they had a more modest price range compared to Linksys, but not anymore. Well, I can see the slogan now...'Belkin. Linksys inside." *reaches for belch bag*

Never been a fan of linksys products. Perfer Belkin and D-Link products myself...

Well, Cisco pretty much destroyed what little quality Linksys had. Even before they were taken over by Cisco, their stuff was kind of iffy. Now that Belkin is getting them, it is going to get even worse. Belkin products are overpriced trash. I refuse to touch pretty much anything sold under the Belkin brand name.

Linksys used to be good until Cisco screwed it up. Cisco's great in the enterprise markets but were useless in the consumer markets. ASUS, SMC, TP-Link and D-Link make better products than Cisco did with Linksys. Personally, I have 1 ASUS RT-N16 router (temporarily in storage), 1 TP-Link TL-WR1043ND, 1 ASUS RT-N10+ and 1 SMC SMCD3GN Internet gateway my ISP provided. All my routers except the Internet gateway run DD-WRT. Hell, ironically, my ISP recently switched to a Cisco Internet gateway and that thing is a steamy piece of garbage. It's really a rebranded Linksys product and it constantly fails no matter how many times I swap it with the ISP. deltatux

Those two deserve each other.

There's not much I can say about Belkin and Linksys. Both are average routers and eventually start failing. I think the best investment I have made so far concerning home routers was this D-Link router I put DD-WRT on. I was thinking of buying a used Cisco router instead but that's a lot of power just for home use.
