nice, but I'd wait at least a year before getting a qd oled monitor.see more options and lower prices.1300 is a lot,I know it's oled but still.

OLED technology is rather old, but my understanding is that yields are rather bad so it will take a bit for prices to be within the 500 dollar range.

Why you guys are so confident that ur apprehension isn't from the chance of getting a gradual burn-in ; rather it is from possible astronomical price tag? Why? Am i missing something?

This monitor is looking really cool and it's unique. I have never seen such small OLED gaming monitor with 34 inches in diameter. However, is it good idea to have OLED monitor for gaming and daily use? I believe that during daily use there will be lot of static images which might be problematic for this panel and it may have burned pixels after warranty expires. Even in games you often have HUD with static elements which might be devastating for the panel in long term use. What do you think guys? Do you think that modern OLED technology does not have this problem anymore? Let me know.

I'm gona jump bandwagon as soon as 27" OLED monitors start to pop . above 32" for me is not a monitor its a TV.

If you decide to spend 1300 on a monitor, you are probably the person that in 3 years is in love with another monitor and do not care about burn-in because is just buying a new monitor. I think this it the target audience for this screen.

sticking with what i have...

oled. not great for perfect colour accuracy but for gaming its awesome. the contrast ratio is amazing , cant run screen at max brightness its actually hurts your eyes if you do. best upgrade for visuals isnt ray tracing it isnt 4k its moving to oled. you get more of a visual upgrade going oled than anything else. Brings new life into old games.

Given the choice in playing oled 1920x1080 vs ips or va 4k i pick 1920x1080 oled any day. People are so focused in screen res they loose sight of game content and how that content is being displayed.

To be honest this is the first PC monitor in years that is really, really interesting and the price is not that bad. Looking forward for the review.

I've seen really bad burn-in on old "xOLED" (phone oled is different from tv oled) so I understand your fears, that said I owned 2 oled tvs and none showed signs of burn-in even tough I watch a lot of twitch on it and pretty bad stuff like hearthstone with most of the screen being the same for hours (open or close chat channel every half and hour or so problem fixed) if you can't change your habitudes then yes it'll be a problem if you can do that it won't be, things like - hide windows taskbar - no desktop icons or move them around often - changing desktop wallpaper - use screensaver often too bad it's 21:9 I'm not buying that 16:9 or nothing, I already bought a 21:9 and returned it 2 days later it was a nightmare for games and NO I don't want to have to mod tweak, patch to get a janky result

nice gif of Linus from LTT who keeps asking for more HDR and more nits o_O as if HDR movies on a regular oled TV in the dark weren't already like looking at the sun I several times had to raise my arm and block a lightsource because it was piercing my retina and I set up my tv with brightness and oled light pretty low, because I watch content in the dark as you should

This is so hilarious. This claim would be valid for anything 16:9. But 21:9 and 32:9 is such a different animal is monitor and shape that this ignorant view is laughable.

When I bought my Alienware AW3420DW almost 2 years ago, I took a huge gamble as I never had (or even seen one in person) an ultrawide and/or curved screen before. It took about 2 days of adjusting myself to it but I loved it ever since. If you keep it close to you, the immersion is real and it's awesome. I honestly can't see myself going back to 16:9. The curve is very subtle and the build quality is solid. That being said, I'm excited and looking forward to this oled version of what is essentially my current monitor. I'm curious if the visual gain will be worth the upgrade. As I too prefer to keep this resolution and high refresh as a more balanced approach to image quality (over something like 4k 60 fps ro 1080p 300 fps...). It depends a lot on how it looks in reviews, price and availability. I've had many experiences with Dell monitors RMA in the past and each one of them was very positive. So I'm less worried if there is a risk of technical issues, which I expect will exist, considering how unique this monitor is.

i played with this last Friday @ Dell Enterprise Technical. it is amaze-balls. i only got to play w/ it for an hour but it is far better than i thought it would be. it is simply the best implementation of HDR (for monitors) to date. it is pricy but let's hope Samsung gets their yield issues straightened out. and btw... burn-in is not an issue for gamers. if you were running stock tickers 24/7 maybe, but that ain't gaming.

Yes, the fact that modern LG OLEDs slightly pixel shift the display over time to avoid burn in. The people using the LG C1 48" as a monitor aren't having burn-in problem because of this and other built-in OLED monitor features. Read up on their forums and user groups and you'll find burn in is no longer an issue for them. Unfortunately, because this monitor is a curved PoS, it is not suitable for professional work. It's just an expensive gamer gimmick, since the 21:9 resolution is a pain in the ass for many/most games.

Uhh i don't know if i agree. It really depends on your usecase for the monitor. If you're only gaming then sure, maybe you can get away without burn-in.. but there's tons of reports of C1's getting burn-in quickly for people that also use it to do production stuff. - FTA:
The Alienware monitor is priced at $1,299, which is a little higher than you might anticipate for a monitor of this grade.
Feel like this is a weird quote considering the source article's headline is "For $1,299, it looks like a bargain." and I think most people would agree.

I love it. Its just kind of big for my tastes but I may still buy it. The contrast is probably the biggest issue I have when playing games.

The moment it showed up on CES everyone started assuming it would cost around 5,000$. And nobody would actually blame dell if this was the case(assuming you have a head on them sholders), because even though they slap the childish 'gaming' tag on it, it straight up destorys normal oleds by a long shot and not to mention the crappy ips/va panels. 1.3k for this is not a bargain, its criminal. Anyone who doesn't see that this is worth the money obviously has no idea what they're looking at.
