You don't have hardware for 280fps+ in 4k or 1440p, so better to have 1080p for a few more years 😉 Not everyone want to play on cheap 60hz 4k display with 30fps 😉 Edit: Forgot noone on guru3d forums play games... Sorry 😛

^ i can, i bought the PG259QN 360hz in November 2021 it depends what you want out of a monitor, i like to max out the settings in my games and keep high fps which i can do easily with 1080p, At 1440p and 4k that number goes down a lot if i keep the settings in games maxed, it also boils down to the type of games people play, With higher res you also have to keep chasing the latest cpu and gpu to pump the frames, at 1080p i dont have that worry for much longer. I get best of both worlds as my tv and pc are right next to each other and connected all times, i just switch to my tv when i want to try 4k or want high fps and graphics stick to my pc at 1080p 🙂

That is not true. Maybe you should check the games and gaming section of the forum, we never see you there.

No you got that completely wrong , the higher the resolution you the less of a factor your CPU is since the limit is your GPU the majority of the time.

These panels are clearly meant for esports, and those titles can run at 280 fps at 1440p on a potato from the Irish famine. And honestly, esports are the only time I think it might be justified to push well beyond 120 fps. 120 is fine to me, I don't feel a need to push much above 140. I didn't find that out until I got a 240Hz monitor.

DO NOT BUY VG259QM ! Asus is using lower quality display panels in more recently produced units while still using the exact same model name.

Asus is using lower quality display panels in more recently produced units while still using the exact same model name. In my opinion this is customer deception by ASUS. I contacted Asus customer support, they said this is "normal" and if I'm not happy with the panel, I just have to return it to the reseller. Poor resellers just selling the units Asus delivered them ... how rude from Asus ! When I insisted at Asus customer support, they said it is due to the chip shortage. What, well Asus, just don't sell the panel anymore! Or use another model number or revision number or whatever. When I insisted again at Asus customer support, they said my first panel came from the NL while the second came apparently from CZ ... how can that be a differentiator ??? My first panel VG259QM was bought from a NL reseller. I bought my second panel of the Asus VG259QM two weeks ago on amazon.de. Very disappointed, the quality of the display panel is much lower then the one I purchased about 1 year earlier. There is ghosting and tearing on the same settings. The colors are inaccurate way off, after hours of testing, there is no possible setting to match the same color and brightness as the first screen. The most annoying for daily use is the yellow in the panel which is overdominating. There are still plenty of good reviews for the VG259QM on the internet. I guess Asus just keeps using the same model name and number just to keep selling this for max profit. Again, in my opinion this is customer deception by ASUS.
