Nice, but Asus being Asus, their cards would be overpriced, more than most other AIBs. Heck, I'd take Sapphire, PowerColor and XFX over MSI, Gigabyte, Asus.....anytime, anyday!

I could buy an ASUS TUF model, but primarily I will be looking at Sapphire's cards. Edit: Not these enthusiast GPUs, though.

3x Dislayport connectors is the way to go anyway. I hope other board partners will do the same.

Knowing Asus, these are made by Palit with the cheapest components possible with a limited f*** you warranty: your card has moisture damage we ain't covering sh*t. No thank you.

Did they just slap a 4090 heatsink on it and call it a day?

I like it 🙂

Part of me is curious how bad the coil whine is on the Radeon cards from ASUS. The other part have learned a costly lesson from the last three generations of Geforce offerings and will stay away. Every single ASUS gpu I have tested from 10/20/30-series, have had insane coil whine compared to the same product from other manufacturers. And this comes from an ASUS fan. I have used ASUS motherboards since Pentium II days. Never had real issues with any of them. I hear great things about their psus. Except for pretty poor driver support, the audio cards and wlan offerings have been good. ASUS routers are ace. But their gpus are trash tier. And I have been through ROG, TUF, Strix models. Same crazy coil whine every time.

4090 TUF cooler is great and build quality is awesome, there is no flex or anything. It's all metal construction. Problem was coil whine, but perhaps AMD version will have different power delivery components and coil whine won't be such a big issue like it is with 4090 TUF.

Yes they did, it's what almost all of the aibs do who make cards for both camps. At least we have Powercolor and Sapphire to show some sense.

Hope we'll see cards like the reference design with the USB-C port on the card; just got a drawing display and it's nice to be able to plug straight into my 2070S' USB-C port.

I mean is not like they have to re-invent the wheel GPUs in general have vrms memory and the GPU silicon on roughly the same spot if you have a cooler capable of cooling 450 watts then it will have no issues cooling 355 and arguably might be just cheaper to produce the bigger Collier than retooling and designing one for each card I would imagine. I really see no issue with reused coolers as far they do their job as intended!

I had the chance to compare a TUF 6800XT with a TUF 3080Ti. The 6800XT was substainally thicker and longer than the 3080Ti in terms of cooler size.

Fixed it for ya, AMD exclusive AIBs are the ones to look at......the bigger name brands like MSI, Gigabyte and Asus ask for higher prices just because.....not that they're better, offer better coolers and such. I'd rather put good money into an RX 7900XTX from only the exclusive AIBs. Previous two gens of cards (skipped the RX 5000 series), a PowerColor Vega64 Red Devil and a Sapphire RX 6900 XT are still kicking butts in games. Even with nVidia, I'd stick with exclusive AIBs, I have a Leadtek GTX 1080 Hurricane OC in my HTPC, it's doing a bang up job.

I didn't mention XFX as i've had issues with their cards. On the other hand Sapphire and Powercolor have been faultless.

I'm aware but this doesn't have that vibe. This looks exactly like the 4090 version. We will have to see but I have a feeling they literately took the cooler and slapped it on this card. I guess everyone noticed even AMD's partner AIB's are not showing off cards so something came in late from AMD and they must have got Asus to toss something together in a rush.

TBH with the cards only being 355W I can see a lot of the AIB just reusing the older 6800/6900XT coolers which would more than suffice. Plus it saves them on tooling and designing. All I expect to be different is plastic face plate where the fans sit to make them look different. All XFX needs to do is come up with a new name rather than Swift or Merc, paint it on the backplate and done.

I could too but this one in question is not small.
