Looks like the best monitor out right now, but not sure if I want to spend almost 1k€ and then be stuck with nvidia due to g-sync.

I think you are dreaming with the 1k 🙂) ... the 34'' is 1300 and that is not 4k, I think this monster will go for at least 1800 - 2000 euro !

Yep. 1440p is sweet spot for 27" imo. But there is a substantial 'moar res is better' crowd regardless of size whom marketing targets and bilks on a daily basis. Even phone manufacturers smell their money and are beginning to make 4k 5" displays for them.

Anyway, I'd rather put my money into one of those 21:9, 30"+, curved beasts, since they are basically like my current Dell 27" 1440p IPS, just a lot wider and with higher refresh rate and g-sync which is pretty nice as well. Too bad there are no monitors that support both freesync and g-sync, so I'm not too restricted GPU wise.

4k on a 27' screen..no thanks, the health of my eyesight is more important to me.
Seriously, such a high resolution on such a small panel will do you no good, you need a minimum 32' screen for 4k.

The Acer Predator X34bmiphz supports both Freesync and G-sync (30-100hz range) and has an AH-IPS panel. 3440x1440. Pretty expensive at ~1300€ though.

The human eye can see a misalignment of 2 lines at a resolution of 2 arcseconds. Which translates into an effective PPD of 1800 @ 12 inches. By comparison a 5" QHD display is only 123 PPD at the same distance.
I would say the average person sits about 3' away from their monitor. So they'd need something like 64K in order to completely abolish any aliasing/artifacting caused by the lack of resolution. Now obviously there is huge diminishing returns as you push closer and closer to that number. But there is certainly a huge benefit moving to 4K @ 27" if you're sitting 3' away. And no, it doesn't hurt your eyes.

My philips BDM4065UC continues to be best smart buy in my opinion and seems resist to these new offers twice or more expensive.
No sync technologies, not for hardcore gamers in fps,
but 40", good responses and timings, optimal black and contrasts at few more than 600 €

Wait a few years until they come out with 120/144hz versions. Even if they had them out now, very few rigs would be able to push 144fps at 4k anyway.

Oh nice, for some reason I thought there are 2 variations of the model, one for freesync and one for g-symc. Good to know!
Anyway, I too agree that for 4K the monitor should be 30"+, when I got my 27" IPS 1440p monitor years ago I thought it was the perfect ppi monitor for my taste, so it should be the same with 4K.
It's good to see that more and more monitor options come up, it's been a while since I was last interested in this market, 120 and 144Hz were well and good, but only since freesync and g-sync came out do these higher refresh rates make sense to me.

I have a 4k display and use it on windows 7, 4k is too much and fatiguing.
I haven't tested yet with apple OS or win 10 scaling, for win 7. The most irritating thing on a 27"4k is you have to be near to read well, you get more area than you vision can manage to do at once, so you have to go left and right with your eyes scaning the display. If I go back even with glasses corrected perfectly i squint, but just not work, so not a confortable experience.
