oh what a shame it won't get into production! It could be really cool gaming on a curved screen, specially with g-synch

Well it might get into production. That said, it's not 4k, it's not 120hz and it's IPS. Next monitor i get needs to be all of the above and OLED otherwise it's not worth it to me. Especially as I imagine a fair amount of my gaming will be on an Oculus or Equivalent in the near future!

Have you looked at the Acer XR341CKA? It's pretty much the same thing, comes with gsync or freesync later summer.

Wow just had a look at the Acer monitor you talk about and looks even more killer than this one! Thanks for the info guys, I'll keep an eye on both of them.

If this makes it into production with at least 120 Hz, it'll replace my Swift.

All I want is a 27" 1440p OLED monitor ... the blacks on my ASUS PB278Q ( PLS ) are starting to bother me more and more ... I'd buy one even if its 60Hz ... altough from what I've read a little while ago OLED screens are very friendly with high refresh rates !?

I have to laugh when people see a curved screen as an improvement. Fact is, it does NOT improve picture quality nor detail. Fact is, its done on really large screens to "remove" distortion if projected on a "flat" one. Fact is, Samsung made tons of panels that they have to sell or otherwise write off, so of course they will state anything to sell them. Most people are only interested because they look "different". Shame that lg and other panel maker are now going the same route. Fact is, oled does not yet beat "advanced" ips (or similar) screens, and brightness will drop by half within years, and isnt a third/half of most led driven screens. So far i haven't seen any oled tv that outperformed a sony xbr series (2012 or newer) running same content. Anyone stating otherwise please show side by side screen shots...

Have you seen an IPS and an OLED side by side ? OLED will beat any "advanced" IPS in my opinion.

Not curved enough.

Not curved enough.
That's a good thing at least for me, it is a bit awkward to watch movies on a curved.

Do it in daylight oled won't look that good, i'll still take a IPS for my environment. OLED has benefits large power saving benefits plus some people like more contrast even if it's accurate that "show room" look people like for tvs.

Now make them 120hz/144hz, and it's the ultimate display. 😀 And i hope it's affordable.

Glad to see it's IPS. 🙂

I would be very disapointed if it wasn't.

True about curved screens ... could care less about curved, but mostly because it requires 21:9 format to look good on a monitor or at the very least the curved one ARE 21:9 regardless of whether they need to or not. Compare black levels on OLED and IPS and you'll get my point ... color accuracy ? I'm pretty sure 99% of people could care less about perfect color accuracy and just want the perfect blacks an OLED can deliver ... and can't you just select Cinema style colors from a menu or smth ? OLED monitors don't need to be ultra vivid colors like you see standard on smartphones ... As for OLED screens in bright rooms ... well ... how about a matte finish on the screen ? no need for it to be glossy ... PS: I game in 100% dark room so OLED would be perfect for me. PS #2: I have a 5" Sony 4k 55X9005B and altough its a top of the line TV and does have increddible picture quality, when I put it next to my fathers 50" Panasonic Plasma (VT smth - last gen pf plasma that Panasonic produced) there is no comparison in image quality as the plasma with its perfect colors and black levels look much better (ignoring of course 1080p vs 4k debate -PS: I have a lot of real 4k footage at 135-150MB/s). I imagine OLED would look just as good with a little bit of calibration so the colors won't be oversaturated.

Even for my 980 SLI setup: too-many-pixels! :P

Acer 34" all the way.. will be my next monitor. Dunno who would buy this one unless they were huge asus fans.

@NamelesONEMail i took screenshots of tweaked settings. update tv if possible and try those on the sony. disregard any that dont show in your menu... uploaded to copy. https://copy.com/AbzsLEDz4WlG2kak @ScoobyDooby i like the ips panel on the asus when watching movies, and i can say this is the first monitor out of all brands i had in the past (lg/aoc/hp/samsung/acer/viewsonic/iiyama), that lets me customize every picture profile (except the fixed sRGB). regarding OLED: sony led driven lcd (lg based ips) vs LG oled (best rated oled tv at moment) [img]http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/thumbs/iyhi-9-81c3.jpg"> [img]http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/thumbs/iyhi-8-cb2e.jpg"> [img]http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/thumbs/iyhi-a-d053.jpg">

@fry178 TV is always conected to the WiFi and auto-downloads updates that I click OK to install later so its deffinetly the latest update. Couldn't find the settings in pics 7-12 but the rest were already well set up. I'm happy to say that I'm not one of those people who buys a high end TV and just watches it on standard or vivid mode. Just 10 minutes after I turned the TV on for the first time I quickly went to the settings and tweaked most stuff to more acceptible settings. In time I set the settings to exactly what I like: natural skin tones and natural looking colors, medium brightness and sharpness ... etc. Somehow I forgot to set the Black Corrector and Clear White settings to anything and were turned off. Turned them to high while testing on the Blu-Ray of The Nevember Man at the scene in the beggining on the waterfront where those 2 are looking over files of dead people and have to admit it did improve the whites and shadows so thx for making me check those settings again : )) The Detail Enhancer however I can only stand it on Low(as I had originally set) since on high is just makes everything over-sharpened and pop out too much and since its too sharp it makes the people and objects look cartoon-ish with much too noticeable edges as if drawn then coloured in 🙂 As far as those image comparrisons: Don't trust them !! .... they are made by Sony as far as I can tell (googled them and the ones that I found are Sony made) so its all stock demo-room settings with everything oversaturated and not calibrated ... and that is assuming that Sony didn't calibrate their own display to make it look better which is entirely believable. One of the sites that I trust for reviews is CNET as they (as far as I can tell) have always told whats bad and whats good about every TV whithout holding back so as not to upset manufactures. Here's a review about the LC Oled TV: http://www.cnet.com/products/lg-55ec9300/ PS: I honestly wish there were some clear head-to-head comparisons of OLED vs high end LED with both of them perfectly calibrated for blu-ray movie viewing since out of the box no tv looks too good.
