ASUS has released its Hyper M.2 x16 PCIe Add-in Card. The card basically is a daughter-board that can be paired with four M2 SSDs. The unit is actually a VROC card, meaning it can be placed on VROC ... ASUS Releases VROC Ready Hyper M.2 x16 PCIe Add-in Card
Where can you buy VROC keys? I haven't see them anywhere for sale, does Intel even sale these "mythical" keys yet?

I do not see any chip, to me looks like an adapter to get 4 lines to each nvme unit. Maybe is the bios of the motherboard that has to support it and you can get it for free or by keys? Asking money to activate a raid is ridiculos, is just the evolution of the old ich9R and ich10R raid setup.

Is there anything that would prevent this from working in other systems? Or even non-Asus boards? $50 for 4x M.2 slots is a decent price if it is platform agnostic. I do understand there could be some complication using this card in many lesser mobos, since many of the x16 slots don't have x16 lanes (which a card like this needs) but if you have all the lanes, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Since most boards don't support RAID with NVMe, you could just do software RAID.

Didn't der8auer use two of these for his Threadripper ludicrous raid ? [youtube=9CoAyjzJWfw]

As usual Amd is discriminated against. Debaters video clearly shows this works best with an Amd system. YouTube haveturnedinto sales men not reporters.

Asus gimmicks never work as well as they should, and buying a key from intel.......screw that noise. High point, Broadcom, and several others offer nvme raid cards. I know the asus gimmick looks pretty, but they always suck. Have seen it time and time again. I myself have fallen victim to it. I had an asus dual socket 1207 board for those gimmicky quadfather setups........that thing was never right. Asus replaced the board 4 times before they admitted it was just a bad design. Dont do it.......get a real raid card. You will be glad you did.
My Asus Strix Sound card works just fine ! when the driver still remembers that i have stuff still turned ON in the Sonic Studio panel, otherwise driver reinstall...
