This is a really awkward card.

I wonder is I could just flash my R9-285 strix to be the same as this

4GB version will be a decent card. It does well even with 2GB, but buying 2GB card in 2015...nah/ And what are they waiting with R9 380X, aka full 384bit Tonga XT.

Isn't your 285 already a better card with newer features and lower power consumption? I thought the 285 was on the newer architecture whereas all the new AMD cards released this week are on the older architecture (aside from Fury).

The R9-380 is basically the rebrand of the R9-285 Tonga as far as I can tell it has the exact same amount of shaders rops tmus gddr5 so flash the bios and make it an R9-380 should be a simple job

Did you forget, or did I overlook? I had an 280X with 6 Gig but decided to "upgrade to an 380, with 4 Gig, for one major reason... It supports PLP! (By hardware!). This is for the PLP-community a rather important feature, IMHO. Till this day, this is the only GPU, that can do this trick... I am also curious what it can do in crossfire setup. Any bench on that? (And I do hope you can test with 4 Gig cards... I agree with you on that; 2 Gigs doesn't do it, nowadays). Thanks for this review.
