Fury X's margin over 980 isn't that huge, and it's losing to 980Ti, so I don't see how they could afford to cut anything much in the regular Fury, aside from a little of the MHz to keep it from frying. Especially if that price is for real. That's significantly more than 980, after all, yet if they cut a lot, the performance will be the same as 980's. If they made it nicely cheaper than 980, then I could see them possibly cutting some stuff. In the end, however, I reckon the card must be a viable choice for those who don't want X's water cooling.

as in gtx 970 and 960: the radiator is bigger than the PCB (fan are on rad not on PCB 🙂 )

That was kinda already done before with MSI 7770 Power edition as far as I can remember (tho two fans only).

I agree. You can purchase a 980 with a decent factory OC for about $500. The cost of this card is just a bit much.
