What's the point? XT processors are nothing new. Nobody in their right mind would buy these over non-XT processors

Aside from XT processor support 1.0.0.2 has several fixes and additions on top of 1.0.0.6 and the earlier as part of the overall AGESA code bundle plus a lot of the 300 and 400 series have been waiting on bios updates as motherboard manufacturers either skipped these boards or skipped on the 1.0.0.5 and 1.0.0.6 AGESA code and moved to 1.0.0.1 (b550's) and 1.0.0.2 here. AMD's not providing much and Gigabyte which I'm on didn't update from 1.0.0.4 so I can't really say what's from where but there's a ton of underlying improvements and tweaking possibilities now likely also further enhancements to issues around the slower boot process and overall memory compatibility. 🙂 Still has it's bug though, something about sleep mode and the infinity fabric potentially jumping from 1:1 sync to a 1:2 cycle slowing things down by operating at half the clock speed plus going by reports there's still various vendor specific issues and there might be some more updates around 1.0.0.2 unless AMD puts up something newer with AGESA specific improvements or updates. (Gigabyte resolved the virtualization feature sticking to on in the latest f20b but one of the settings for SOC voltage values now needs to be in auto or it won't work well if at all.) EDIT: The version number is reset for new processes so that's why 1.0.0.2 is the newest but it gets a bit messy without the full name and how this works. (ComboPI was the name for this prior one ending at 1.0.0.6 I think?)

Lol Its like one real paragraph of text. I'm seeing this more and more lately where people simply don't read yet talk about the content of said thing they just didn't read. Not sure if its related to people being at home so much or what but it is odd.

While I would not seriously advise anyone to get them. I believe that prices on silicon lottery speak a lot about existence of many "nobodies in their right mind". Maybe it is form of insanity, but it kind of comes with money.

I feel your pain. but if it is any relief most boards havent updated yet. there maybe is a underlying problem with this agesa as well. some people reported issues, while others were fine. so i guess thats why its going so slow.

On the X570 Taichi, the new AGESA v2 1002 gave me +100mhz on the 2 strongest cores. The 3900X now hits 4.7Ghz with just CPPC, Preffered Cores and 1usmus powerplan. (PBO is OFF).

I was wondering if we have any way of getting some more info on these AGESA updates? Or for that matter is there anywhere to get more info on Asus BIOSes? To say there's very little info given out would be an understatement, as sometimes not only do Asus not give on notes anywhere (they give a few lines at most which sometimes state nothing beyond saying AGESA is updated), I can't find anything from AMD either. I've had to go through the UEFI itself each time to see what's new/changed.

On one hand yeah but on the other if they do update it's better that it's done well as long as AMD can maintain support and the motherboard vendors keep updating and integrating the core AGESA fixes with their own bios code updates and whatever tweaking and fixes might be needed. 🙂 At least many board vendors are still maintaining the older motherboard models even if it's slowed down a bit in addition to the X570's and the new B550's on the market. Might help that AMD reverted that decision on what the upcoming CPU's would support and that the AGESA code is still compact enough to fit on the bios chips and maintains backwards compatibility for a while yet before this gets cut. ...I had a Asus sound card so I'm kinda familiar with way too early support stoppage and dropping everything ha ha. Although for that metaphor it's a good thing not everyone is like Realtek either and this goes on some almost daily build basis though I really would like better info on what gets changed or added rather than some very dedicated community testing finding out what's new. 😀 ("Improved memory compatibility." Suddenly there's a half dozen new options and various bugs mysteriously disappeared over months of beta bios releases ha ha.) EDIT: Not like detailed bios version info will ever be a standard I feel, at best AMD provides some info on what these AGESA updates really do besides some quick support for new hardware blurb and then from the various board vendors well sometimes it's a bit better other times it's nothing at all for what these actually do. 1.0.0.6 added per CCX voltage adjustment as one of it's bigger features which I'd imagine is really nifty for getting each core to it's supported but not dangerous voltage level for optimal performance (A little bit below the maximum safe voltage from testing for finding this value or how to say.) without risking I think that's around 1.25+ manual voltage and potential damage or if done this way poor scaling through PBO or relying on negative voltage via offsets to get PBO to manage things a bit better. 🙂 Overclocking these little CPU clusters is a interesting change but at least the automatic boost mode is doing a good job although PBO itself could still be improved by a lot. (New hardware and improving latency and the infinity fabric speed will be a interesting read up on the 4000 series and then what's after that on maybe DDR5 next.) What else is there to say, well probably not much for the XT's here other than AMD possibly having a reference for what the price of the 4000's might start at if it's going to be a tad higher before retailer and EU and US price differences and all that. Kinda hard to recommend a XT over the X model due to the slight difference in performance but not so slight difference in pricing and whatever will happen once initial availability dwindles down if that's going to be a issue. EDIT: Let's avoid a double post here this is kinda messy though but well one last thing. And for the AGESA updates maybe that's also on AMD to not ship out updates that MSI incorporates as they seem to be very quick to do and then many other board vendors (Pretty much all of them?) outright skip on either 1.0.0.5 and even 1.0.0.6 citing bugs although I guess the B550's release also forced them to first have 1.0.0.1 on the board itself (New process, new version numbers.) for actually supporting this bit of hardware and then almost immediately a update to 1.0.0.2 including updates for the X570's and over time the other support models. There's some fixes (Well from the 1.0.0.5 info that is available.) and then there's probably a number of undisclosed issues in addition to the vendor specific problems and their own bios code in addition to the AMD one. (Hopefully nothing too severe at least.)

Cool maybe update my 2700 finally to 4 series? Would be nice ... Or wait till 3 series gets really cheap, mmmmmmmmm.
