Yikes! Disgusting. Wonder when Nvidia and OEMs will answers for this crime that GPP is.

Too apologetic and passive statement. It's like they wanted this. Also looks like they fear Nvidia and not directly call them for this. Makes you wonder.
Honestly I think it's played perfectly. There isn't much they can do about GPP by calling it out directly; it's better settled by the regulatory bodies of various governments of which I'm sure they voiced their concern, among other people. But the change itself is inevitable - so by turning it around and making it seem like it was always part of the plan they can launch these new brands with their "open" marketing and differentiate themselves in the market. Which honestly is something I think AMD has needed to do for a while. Hopefully Nvidia still ends up getting some sort of penalty paid to AMD. I think this is AMD making best of a garbage situation but I do think it's their best play.

LOL It was well measured statement, with couple of jabs thrown at Nvidia. "No anti-gamer / anti-competitive strings attached." I thought they could have omitted few things, especially things like "no anti-gamer", considering that for quite some time, Radeon has been in no-gamer business.

It will hurt AMD in the short run. But I agree with you @Denial.

Well... That name is still weird. Period. Even though that's a better move than MSI to just remove any "gaming" related words on their AMD boards. With that being said... My current RX 480 is Sapphire and before that, my 280X was XFX. Might as well just keep on going with these two for the time being. Too bad the MB's will likely be still Asus, as the store I generally buy my components doesn't usually offer anything but Asus or Asrock. And I'm not a big fan of Asrock, barely any support at all in my country.

Not only that. But you start calling out companies for being anti-competitive, and you might get sued for defamation. Bottom line, you don't speak in derogatory terms, unless you can prove it. And if you can prove it, why not go to court instead (or additionally)? Because... AMD is a serious company and they know better -> hence couple of jabs thrown at NV to keep the Red Rebellion fire going, but measured enough not too look like an angry teenager, and vague enough not be held liable for defamation. I'm no expert, but that looks like good corpo speak 🙂

What needs to be mentioned is that the STRIX labeling was pulled from ROG as well. All in all this is good for all involved. Each company has their own unique lines and will live or die by their own hand.

STRIX was confusing to begin with. I never knew if it was hig-end, or not so high-end. Not that I payed too much attention, but is an average consumer supposed to?

Pretty sad when someone thinks that wording on a product is "disgusting", rather then caring what the actual product is, like all enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts do anyways. What has the world come to, to make such sad people exist?

Its well written and in a few words manages to effectively shaft Nividia on key points. They are taking the moral highground (not necessarily out of conviction), but because thats the hand thats been dealt to them. They are now basically marketing their 'moral superiority' over Nvidia. Could be working. Have seen a lot of disgusted Nvidia owners in some forums say they would switch brands over this.... Presumably when AMD have something better to switch to 😀.

Wait, AMD even lost the Asus in the name? its not ASUS AREZ? just AREZ? is that right?
Back in the day ASUS spawned ASRock as low end MB maker. Today ASRock makes competitive MB in entire performance range which are imho better than ASUS as I prefer cleaner behavior. And ASRock now starts with AMD GPUs. ASUS is spawning AREZ to spin off AMD's products like they spun off low end. None knows what AREZ becomes in few years.

If AMD ever releases a top end GPU that beats Nividias flagship, Arez will become a respected high end gaming brand.

Soon we will see Navi. It will be taste of some technological things AMD has in store for post-GCN architecture. 2020 that's when AMD brings new big guns.
