^TN. The MG279Q is the IPS version of this, w/freesync + 144hz.

"AVAILABILITY & PRICING ASUS MG278Q will be available in Asia, Europe in August, and North America early September." Where is the pricing?

4K + 120/144hz is the only thing that will make me upgrade my current monitor

MG279Q with AHVA only supports freesync up to 90Hz. MG278Q with TN supports full 144hz.(?)

This is basically the ROG Swift, but with Freesync instead of g-sync, and more discrete aesthetics. I got the MG279Q just a few days ago, and I'm really happy with it. The 90hz cap for freesync is not nearly as big of a downside as people think. The MG278Q will most likely be 40hz - 144hz though, instead of the 35 - 90 of the MG279Q, but I will happily trade those 54hz on the top for 5hz better lower limit. When playing stuff like CSGO, I just put 144hz in my config so that freesync disables when I launch it.

I own MG279Q but the lower freesync limit should be at 30hz since many games have 30fps locks at game. I just mainly use it as 144hz mode since input lag, blurring and overshoot is lower.

Just to get this straight, if you have a 144Hz display (panel), and you run your frame rate above fsync, and below your monitor's refresh rate, do you get tearing, or does the standard vsync kick in then?

I believe there is an option. You can either have it kick in v-sync or you can accept tearing.

What's the minimum free sync refresh rate supported by this monitor? 30Hz? More? or less?. Thanks! I think I will switch to AMD next year...because I'll never buy a GSync monitor.

That is correct. Just go into the game's settings and turn v-sync on if you want to cap the framerate, or turn v-sync off if you want lower latency but accept tearing above the upper sync limit.

It will most likely be 40 - 144hz. The MG279Q is still the one that goes the lowest, at 35hz.

Thanks for making this clear to me guys 🙂

Seems very nice for me, although I'd like a hint as to what they might cost...I'm not really sure what the deal is about Freesync as without it all of my games look a good bit better than the supposed non-freesync/gsync demos I've seen. They seem to exaggerate the negative visuals of non-free/gsync displays, and sometimes very much exaggerate them...

It differs a lot from game to game. In some games it's not even noticeable, while in other's it's a night and day difference.

I don't get it. What do you mean by increasing the negative visuals? Is it just clearer to see some of the crap textures?

wrong quote... but waltc is saying they are exaggerating negatives(lag, choppiness) of ordinary Vsync
