I think Zenwatch is a pretty popular brand - the problem is that so many early adopter Android Wear owners got burnt and now they are done with the entire platform. Both the original Moto 360 and LG G Watch got abandoned after like a year. Both run like complete garbage in terms of performance. The moto 360v2 is essentially abandoned - they said AW2.0 is coming for it, but it's been months with basically no news other then google's androidwear twitter saying it's rolling out even though not a single report of anyone getting it. Even if it did come the update is pretty much useless for solving the platforms problems. Huawei had a chance of reviving it with HW2 but they blew it by switching the design to a sports one - which no one really wanted, there are already a dozen brands doing that for a fraction of the cost. The entire AW platform garbage and having owned by a Moto v1 and v2 and following the rest of the watches/updates closely, I'd never recommend any of them to anyone. Honestly in general, Google's products are going that way - ever since the Alphabet restructure they've been super slow at launching new stuff and they send mixed messaging about everything including messaging (they have 5 messaging clients on android now). Google Home is useless as an assistant - still can't do reminders and super far behind Alexa. They basically screwed over all the onhub buyers - plagued with issues and basically next to zero updates for it - then they released an entirely new mesh router system. Android wear is garbage. Android Auto is decent but the assistants across all their platforms answer/work differently - I ask to play a song/album on home and it works, but on Auto it sometimes doesn't, or it plays only a few select tracks of the artist before repeating them, or any number of issues with it. Idk, I can keep going on but I'm basically rambling at this point. I just think the failure of Zenwatch is less about marketing and more about the platform being bad and everyone knowing it. There is next to zero enthusiasm for any of the new smart-watch releases.

Whole idea is a complete garbage. These "watches" are so useless that it hurts! As useless a product is rarely seen in the contemporary industrial production. Nowadays, when no one goes to toilet without a mobile in their pockets, I can hardly imagine the piece of electronic device more useless than these watches. And if anyone wants to show-off, there are variety of "real" watches out there...

If any company ever wants me to consider a smartwatch over a regular watch, it better have a battery life measured in weeks or it should almost completely replace my phone.

Apple had hoped for numbers at least 10x what the Apple watch is doing, I'm certain...;) I've got say that the Apple Watch--or any wrist watch that won't run on a 3-5-year $5 battery is a definite no-sale here...;) Ugh! Apple's going to be in some significant trouble if a competitor comes along and steals the iPhone show--'cause that's really all Apple is today--a cell phone manufacturer. Everything else the company makes is either an also-ran or simply sucker-bait. Nothing wrong with being a cell phone company as long as it lasts--but you have to wonder if there is anything left for Apple in terms of personal computing.

It's not selling well because people are clueless what it actually does. I have a zenwatch and it's very useful. Battery life is great too. Everyone I've showed it to pretty much had the same reaction. They didn't seem to know what it did and after wanted to get one. It's a great hands-free option for my phone. I can answer calls with it, reply to messages and email and see notifications without having to take my phone out of my pocket. I'd say it's a lot more useful than a regular watch that just tells you the time.

Yep, smart watch concept is flawed, I don't know how you can interact with something usefully that's gonna replace the 'big' screen of a phone when you've got a piddly little watch face - I think the concept is just flawed right from the beginning.

smart watch is like connected toothbrush... useless crap even in sport, the captor is far less acurate than a real sensor (yes even on iPear's watch despite all what they said) tested (android and iOS) and back to regular one.

People are allowed to have an opinion, but I think saying something is "useless" with no foundation or reasoning is lame. I think everyone can agree that there is a market for watches and I think adding functionality to a product people are already wearing is beneficial. If I told someone who owned a watch that I could add all the android wear features without impacting the look, design or price of the watch - I think a large portion of people would appreciate those features - the rest shouldn't care because it isn't impacting anything else. The problem is that with Android Wear devices or the Apple Watch or whatever, is that it often detracts from the watch. Whether it be the fact that you have to charge it, or the look of most android wear watches being bulky, or the screen just being too low res or whatever. Does that make the idea bad/useless? No, it just makes it a design problem that hasn't been successfully overcome yet. For me, I bought an Android Wear watch because I wanted a watch mostly as a fashion accessory - the added benefit of being able to quickly check notifications as they come in, or potentially pay for items via NFC and not having to take out my phone/wallet is just value-add.

Alexa and those silly home hub things that do everything a smart phone already does but only as long as they are actually connected to a smart phone have to rate in the 'about as useless' category.
