Ahhh yeah ok then, what specifically is wrong with a high end notebook / laptop? You don't like having high end processors or GPU's in portable form factors? And for the OT part of my post, this will hopefully mean better competition in the gaming laptop market. It's hard to find a good one in AUS for close to (or under) 2K

Kepler/Maxwell mobile GPU's are just as powerful as their desktop variants.

What is your problem? People travel and go to LANs consistently.

Hey he has the right to free speech even though we disagree with him and the way he addressed it. You know how you get rid or solve the problem it causes you? Don't acknowledge it or get drawn in to a debate. I mean that sincerely and not in a negative way. Hope it helps. Best Adam

Its nice seeing more gaming laptops come out as I get asked all the time for suggestions on new computers, mostly from twitch users. I usually say just go and build a desktop and while some opt or take the time to learn how to do it, there are those who just dont have time time and patience/and or just have the money to shell out. I've actually seen many people stream from their laptops as many go to college or move out and still want to game without having a desktop setup in dorm rooms and such. I also wish there was more push for thunderbolt so you can have an external pcie/box that does the graphics for your laptop therefore you can upgrade it easily as well as not overheating the laptop. Anyway if they're pushing with the 980M, 970M and 965M.. its most likely equivalent to 780, 770 and 760 desktop performance, so I wouldn't count laptop gaming out. There are a lot of people on the go, traveling or even want to get some gaming in when they're out of town/vacation without having to haul your desktop.

More likely aching to 760 GTX desktop performance. You have to count in that the CPU counterparts in desktops are also stronger.

Oops I think I made a mistake with my previous post, on 3DMark2013: [Paired w/ i7-4870HQ@3.7] 980M on average gets around 8100-8300ish 970M on average gets around 6400ish If we put that up against stock scores (based on Guru3D charts), the 980M is slightly below stock 780, the 970M is below a 770, above a stock 680. Granted we are going based on stock speeds here as we know a stock 780 that hits 8500ish can hit 10K :P and a 770 can hit 8K, either way the desktop counterpart will always have an edge in performance and has legroom for overclocking while the laptop variant will be temperature/cooling/power limited. So definitely a step up from the 880M. Nevertheless with the new power efficient gpus, the performance for laptop gaming has come a long way and if I was always on the go or have some type of travelling job I would probably get one of these gaming laptops. I’ve always considered either MSI or ASUS (and Sager, Lenovo lol) so its good that they’re still pushing for better laptops. I remember back then with the ASUS ROGs running on 460M was able to run Witcher 2, while not on Ultra settings, it still looked good and playable. I can't wait for next gen batches 😀
