Price is a disaster , this card in USA cost $1,550 US Dollars , that's almost the same price as a vanilla 4090 at $1,600 US Dollars 😳

Tbh anyone buying a strix version of anything else but the highest end model (aka 3090 or 4090) aint very smart... you are buying a lowerend model to save money most likely, so why pay a huge premium for a slightly nicer version. However, with the highest end model, it does very much make sense to get the nicest version.

It's funny that HH has to give out advice now on how not to install your new shiny gfx card. Like everyone else said this is a stupid card priced too near the much better 4090. Especially when the 90 series is so much faster unlike the 3080 - 3090. This or a FE 4090? I think i know what most people would pick.

Yikes at the coil whine. That alone would put me off, even if the prices were more reasonable.

This is the third time I read about coil whine on the 4080 Strix.

1) i admire the fact that this card is whisper quiet 2) i hate the fact that a brick is shorter and lighter 3) the price follows the cost (of manufacture), but is unreasonable in the SKU lineup. imo, this means the rog/strix 4090's price is even worse... for the same cooler. you're getting into aio/blocked GPU pricing

Didnt expect 1.5x over 3080ti. If it wasnt for the stupid price, its be an awesome card at 800-850eur

Coil whine The GeForce RTX 4080 STRIX exhibits extensive coil whine. Unfortunately, our sample was pretty bad, a bit of a squeaky scream pig even. That has surprised us; no, that's not good. Out of all 4080 cards tested to date, this particular ASUS one was the worst.

the coil whine is heard through the audio output. i was talking about dB noise specs for the case. but even so point well made
Coil whine is caused by physical vibration of component(s) on the PCB, it is not usually heard through audio out.

Der8auer also had very bad coilwhine on his 4080, while the 4090 Strix was fine. I guess ASUS is one to avoid this round.

He just got lucky with his 4090 (or rather a "reviewer sample" which they checked for stuff like extreme coilwhine before sending it)

"Oh these silent cards go to GN Steve and Linus. And this coil whine pig goes to store shelves. Some unlucky guy who saved for 2 years from Slovakia will buy it. He doesn't have a big platform to complain publicly and we'll easily deny RMA request." Of course I made this up but it could be how things are.

Im sure they usually do check cards before having them sent to reviewers, which is why barely any reviewers mention coilwhine on 4090 strix, but the majority of users got CRAZY coilwhine.

I'm most likely going for a MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio.
