Hmm... considering a single 290x has a tdp of about 300w and runs really hot to begin with... anyone who buys this new dual 290x card should probably also buy a fire extinguisher and perhaps some marshmellows.

Stop trolling....it gets old. Only the cards with reference coolers have temp issues. It isn't anything new for AMD cards. AMD's GPUs are no harder to cool than NVidia's. AMD just uses crap reference coolers to cut cost. Hell, R9 290X runs relatively cool compared to the HD4800 series cards with reference coolers. My HD4850 idled at 85C with load temps reaching 105C with it's reference cooler.

i would love to see the temps that this custom liquid cooler produces, because that will be a hell of a lot of heat being thrown out of that PCB. im rooting for it to be a success, but it boggles my mind at this point

The GPU's don't produce any more heat than GK110 does....
