Okay they have totally lost it. Not even I consider paying that kind of money for a mainboard. Btw, the link and the single articles are no longer findable on that e-tailer's website. Hopefully it was just placeholders... And I don't know what a "mainstream enthusiast" is tbh... this left me question my understanding of mainstream, and enthusiast products. Is it mainstream products like the Prime priced like an enthusiast model? That would fit this pricing.

Not sure why everyone would expects everything to fit "their" wallet. how many have stood in front of their favorite car brand, complaining that their fully loaded model is out of "your" range, or that the top floor apartment/house with pool isnt just 500$/month? not sure why its then expected for components to be cheap. i get the perf lvl my funds support, not just blindly buying the biggest model, still doesnt make me sour it for others that are willing to shell out more.

It's not about super fancy Asus Extreme boards anymore. The stuff in the mid to low-end of the product segment is frighteningly expensive. Like come on Asus? Are you mad?!

It looks like they are placeholders with +N% price to get: a) extra money from kids buying prematurely, b) margin to lower or not, when shop buy goods with exact price.

The prices of the MBs for the next CPUs from Intel and AMD are my biggest concern, even more than the prices of the CPUs...

Won't sell many at those prices.

I felt dirty spending $300 on my mid range x570 board. So long as they keep making cheap, $100ish range boards, it'll be fine... but, my word. o_O That's some serious coin for a mainboard.

Show me a decent motherboard for around 200-ish and maybe we can talk. Of course, a stripped version, but functional.

Lol, who do they think they are? £400 for the skanky Prime?! Good luck with that, during a global recession and when nobody really needs a new shiny CPU anymore. What game/application can you not run right now that you desperately need a CPU upgrade for? At least it doesn't require Windows 11, unlike Intel with their shitty e-cores. Maybe that's what the premium is for! 😀

I am an true fan of PC gaming and buying PC Gear. First time that I can remember I may skip new CPU/GPU line up in years. Frack I am not a good liar, just trying to trick myself into not buying new gear because the same crap happens all the time, new shiny stuff gets me just about everytime.

Same here. I payed 200eur for x570 board im not paying more for x670.

Ok when the cheap chipset is coming out? Considering that even if this socket will last 4 years as the AM4, no one wants to pay a MB so much. I want to socket the new cpu, i don't want 20 usb ports, pcie 5.0 everywhere and so on.

1) X670-E is now HEDT which is an interesting take, but logical. it keeps the SKUs simple and avoids a massive expense for a limited market (no extra costs @ fab). 2) X670 will be far less expensive and will only have the extra cost of DDR 5 & pcie 5.0 compliance. you will not need a fancier set of VRMs than X570, nor a thicker pcb like X670-E 3) these prices are listed as (greedy) placeholders. there is no real difference between these inflated prices and the nicer AL mobos selling @ a similar pre-launch premium.

Indeed. If this were limited to one or two TotL products it could be ignored. Hard to ignore if they're extending it to the entire product line. Hopefully it's an insane placeholder.

this is the most expensive chipset X670 will be far less expensive and the B series is now mainstream (since Ryzen 3) w/ features

I have a b550 and honestly there's no need for a x board unless you need the extras. Good quality b boards are very good and you're not missing much.

$449.99 for my ASUS DARK HERO, 799.99 for my 5950X , got both from Micro center , first came out , it will be years before I upgrade again , oldest thing is my GPU 1080Ti , but no hurry for a GPU at all .

Who buys these expensive HALO boards?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/246/246564.jpg
Those who need the I/O, enthusiasts with bottomless pockets, and those who think more expensive = more betterer.
