I have all the features mentioned on my Maximus X Hero. BIOS Version 1101, 23.03.2018 RGB disable switch is what got added with the latest BIOS. (and maybe a search function, catn remember) It's a boringly good system 🙂 I have yet to encounter a one single issue.

There is a difference, and I sympathize with cryohellenic. RGB is useless bling that we're all paying for, simply because component makers want something new to sell. A much better analogy to cars would be adding more chrome ornaments. Sure, somebody somewhere would want them, but that doesn't justify the added costs and waste of resources. And now touting the ability to turn off the stoopid lights is completely risible. Asus should be ashamed of that blurb.

Let me put it simply for you - why should I pay for something I don't need? Exclude it from the price, and I will be more than happy to ignore it.

Its great to see secure erase as a built-in BIOS feature for both SSD's and NVME SSD's! I'm still running a Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H and i7 4770K so I've been out of the loop for a bit, lol! I use secure erase through bootable media so having access via BIOS would be very convenient!

So much RGB these days... 5 years from now Asus will release RGBs that feature a motherboard.

It depends on number and built in functions in those RGB controllers. While simple RGB controller with no blinking, transitions can be as cheap as $2, those on MBs usually have transitions/effects, are soft controlled, BIOS integration, Added USB or other interface, multiple channels, ... Software development and maintaining cost. That may add even $20 to each RGB MB. For a moment I toyed with idea to have nice lighting in PC starting at Blue 20°C Turning slowly to White at 45~50° and then transitioning to Red at 60°C as that's where I do not get on GPU ever and on CPU rarely. I would say it would be neat warning system. But then... I am not into it as I am used to have OSD anyway. Sad thing is that almost any MB in high end comes with RGB. Now memories have it too, but there is still good number w/o and those which have it are passively controlled from external RGB controller (like one on MB).
