Better compression? since ps5 version doesn't save as much, assuming better compression was already used on ps5 version.

Maybe removed unused language/audio files?

This is the kind of stuff that irritates me so much about AAA titles these days - there is no reason they couldn't have done this sooner. I wouldn't be surprised if they could get away with a higher level of compression, either. Unless the quality is noticeably diminished from compression (doubtful), this kind of bloat is a lose-lose situation to the user. The game takes longer to download/update, the game is slower to load when you actually go to play it, and although SSD space is affordable these days, you're still paying quite a bit to store such a large game. If you're on a HDD, the storage cost is minimal but the loading time becomes significantly worse. Everyone has enough CPU and RAM resources to handle lossless compression. It's a win for everyone, so just do it.

Eventhough I have 6TB of SSD space and 6TB mechanical, this is still nice to see. Games are huge. And its stupid as hell they sont have selected downloads. Dont have the DLC, dont have to install it. Same with languages/audio. Was just playing it last night to test out FSR at 5120x2160. Couldn't believe how well it looked while getting 60 fps with game maxed out.

Did they just remove all the bugs? Hell yeah, I would have never thought the bugs can take that much of storage space!:D

Now if they did the same thing with grind, but that won't happen...

maybe ... if you read the article you wanted to talk about , you would know ... ? idk ... it's like i live in a world with 8 billion fools , me included
I did read the article, it states the data has been "restructured"... I'm not sure what that means exactly, restructured obviously does not mean compressed.. maybe I'm just another fool for not knowing. I thought maybe it was like Watch Dogs.. which if memory serves the install size was made smaller after release by removing un-needed audio, at least that is my understanding of it, I may be remembering in incorrectly.

@KissSh0t restructured probably means they eliminated duplicate data (it would be baffling is actually true), but probably they compressed some assets too. When can we chose what language to download? And if we want 4k textures? Those options would save allot of internet bandwidth and disk space!

I guess that Steam should add some rewards (bigger margins) to developers which are keeping there games size smaller, lots of file downloads should be optimal, for example if dont play multiplayer you dont need lots of related stuff, if game has multiple lang voice overs etc. If someone has low end machine, he probably doesnt benefic from ultra highres textures etc.

yeah they probably did something like that , restructuring the data , probably means restructuring the code of the game to make it run better also said faster loading times and performance , so yeah ... and my apologies for the comment , watched to many police auditing videos on youtube that day 😉

Fortnite was 115GB at one point, now it's 40GB.

Most certainly they didn't compress anything. A game that looks like a cartoon is dead easy to compress without loss of fidelity. Warframe is a f2p game that is in development and adding stuff since 2013. It was getting big and developers chose to do a clean up pass and optimization on all assets saving +10Gb. This should be industry standard, why do I need lossless audio and 10 languages? Why would I need 4k videos and textures if my monitor is FHD? We need change in the industry, internet isn't fast and affordable for everyone neither is storage.

Is funny that most pirate repack groups ... They just remove all other audio's but english and often re- encoding the cinematis , and suddenly MAGIC the game is 1/3 the size .
