Honestly, really glad I have an ASRock X370 Killer SLI/AC board and not a Z270 Killer SLI/AC

I would like to know if this is a persistent issue on any X79 mobos. Specifically the Asus Rampage IV Extreme. Still hoping old Sandybridge-E is going to be able to still be kicking it a few more years!!

I updated my Rampage IV Black Edition a week ago with the new microcode (428 -> 42A) for my 4960x. No reboot problems so far.

I have not seen nor heard of an update on my Asus RIVE for either the CPU or motherboard. Is there something I am missing for my 3930K and my motherboard combo?

I was wondering this for my best friend/roommate. He has my old i7 3820 and MSI X79 board. I just told him all about this today. He just got into pc gaming. So he is still learning. Have an issue where the bios says cpu is at 4.5 but windows says it at 3.6. CPUZ , afterburner, everything says the same thing. He has notice some slow down the past week.

I had that board. I liked it but it died so fast. No idea why. Only had an i7 950 @ 4.1. Loved the look of it. Sadly, I dont think anything older then the z97 boards will get an update.

You can mod your bios with the tool UBU 1.69.10... but you have to know what you're doing, with these method you can brick your board.

Here is a guy commited to updating some older ROG boards with all the latest bios goodies: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?48001-R4E-BIOS-4804-MODDED-EFI-Intel-13-1-0-2126-Download I’m thinking about updating my RIVE soon but maybe I’ll wait for Intel to sort out some of their issues first. I think the 3930K has a microcode update while the 3960X does not.
BOLTS4BREKFAST from the rog forum also modifies the bios files this way..

Yeah I was looking into the UBU way a couple of years ago and instead of doing it myself I was lucky to find him on the ROG forum. Saved me the hassle of puzzling together all the 100 topics and guides on win-raid on how to do it yourself.

Eh i cant say the same thing, that was first and last evga board I will ever buy, that thing had endless issue with ram disappear, No Bios ever fixed rma of board fixed, and 8+ ram set i tried never fixed, one one set ever worked right at correct speeds, with out randomly lossing ram. and the set that worked was RMA'ed set i got back from manfacture none 4 sets before that or after that ever worked right., and from what read back then X58 systems were notorious for this. but on topic I think the only way this issue with microcode should be delt with is, All the cpu manufactors make the need microcode, and then FORCE the OS makers to push the updates threw there updates, that is only way every will get protected.

Right on...! And thank you I will have to check this stuff out. Was hoping to get the NVMe update, but with my added usb 3.0 to C adapter it is already taking pci-e lanes from my GPU's. Adding in a NVMe card would most likely drop me down even further from my 16/8/8/4 as it was 16/8/8/8 before that added USB shtuff....
