I did hear something about DLSS in VR supporting eye-tracking so it concentrates the major resolution only to region where eyes are currently looking, which would be another major frame-rate and quality improvement. Not sure if this is going to be implemented/supported in this though. Would be great if it was. Does anyone actually use MSFS just on a desktop monitor?? If DLSS is not in VR, then its a waste of time for most flight-sim users who mostly use some VR headset.

I'd bet most people play MSFS on a desktop monitor. Does anyone actually 'mostly use some VR headset'? There is no group of users 'who mostly use some VR headset', including "all VR headset owners" as a group.

Itll probably come to VR but they would really have to improve on dx12 in vr for it to be as exciting as it should be, as dx11 is much faster.

I would say over 90% is on "just monitor"

Its whoever owns a vr set, because no way anyone can go back to flat once they have vr.

Not as long as getting eyestrain from VR exists. Had 3 sets so far, none of them was bearable enough.

If 3 headset doesn't work it's mean that you just have a weak pair of eye 🙂

doesn't that mean he has a good pair of eyes if he's more sensitive to it ?

No, because it has more to do with than just your eyes. My sight isnt that bad, and Ive have played the most extreme VR stuff and have never come close to having any issue. Im not that young either. Not that this means anything. *Set is a Samsung Odyssey +

So less than 5% of the total users.

I get the same feeling as when looking at one of the worse 60Hz CRT's from back in the days when playing 30-60 minutes with VR, probably mainly because there is way to much flickering/shimmering from lowering a lot of what I use to have maxed out on a regular monitor.

hm...I value my eyesight very much, my career depends on it, so yeah I don't want any screen that sit a few inchs from my eyes. Also the reason why I love the 48in OLED so much 😀

I'd bet you are totally wrong. Unless you are being a dick, its obvious i meant anyone who is actually interested and invested in flightsims and also car sim rigs, will use VR most of the time, as it is mostly a lot more realistic experience. Obviously common Joes who don't invest serious money in both hobbies, will sit in front of a bog standard flat monitor and have a plain old fashioned non-realistic time of it. No interest in debating if you only have a poor little monitor to sim on and think its good enough.

so not owning a VR headset for you ... means you are either poor or a tight bastard .... such an elitist position to take , if you do not have a Ferrari you are either poor or a tight bastard your self ! 😛

Head over to the big racing and flight-sim community sights, you will be surprised when you discover how little a percentage that uses VR. Big curved monitors or a lot of flat panels seems to be the most common thing to go with, since VR adds some major disadvantages for hardcore sim people. Subpar graphics compared to what one can get with other solutions and what's even more important, doesn't accurately replicate expensive sim hardware, heck in most cases there are no accurate visuals for knobs and buttons at all. Also take note of the demand for LED's, tiny LCD displays and stacks of panels, can't really use all that stuff with VR. Even real professional sims don't use VR because of that, the complete look, reach, touch and feel experience is way more important than some cheapo VR googles. 😛

What we need is a more responsive menu system and update servers that can let me download updates faster.

There is nothing "cheapo" about the latest high-end VR headsets! Do you have a VR headset and ever used it with sim-racing or flight-sim titles? Do you have any expensive sim-racing gear? I do (Fanatec), and still much prefer the way more accurate and realistic feel of visuals in headset, with true stereoscopic and depth perception, enabling accurate speed and cornering - which are impossible on flat panel monitors. I would never use a monitor again for racing. And anyway most high-end gear still works or works better in VR - same force feedback, same pedals, same wheels, same motion platforms - and much feels better in VR with the reality of machinery blocked from view. Yes there are many (oldschool) racers who stick to flat panels or triples for many reasons, but most are realizing the benefits of high end VR gear. Yes it is a pain to not be able to see your expensive buttons/knobs/displays but the advantages of VR outweigh that.

Had HTC's Vive Pro and a much cheaper Microsoft VR set, but didn't enjoy either in the long run, preferring curved monitors over VR. My old Fanatec setup, with handbrake, gearbox, dampening mod, IR tracker and a DIY frame.
