If they invented and developed the idea I don't see anything wrong with this if others want to use the idea they need a license agreement, or develop something different. I would like a dual slot pump that plugs into a pcie slot that has selectable and configurable multi loop connections.

Maybe it's time AMD makes a proper Videocard which doesn't require Watercooling? I mean common... Watercooling is so 00's.

Completely disagree. Watercooling is the best cooling method (price\performace) for today. And it is definitely NOT "so 00's"

exept passive cooling... anything is noiser than watercooling 🙂 (yes even the MSI wich stop fan when idle... because when not...). But why they have chosen a budget WC for an high end product... wouldn't it be more simple to sell the Fury with only the waterblock? as the EVGA high end? Nearly everyone with high end system (and so the budget to get Fury X) have already watercooling system, adding it wouldn't be difficult...

What is that diagram in article? From what I can see part 9 in this is a pump. But i thought the patent Asetek had was "pump in the block" which would mean no part 9 and pump inside part 7. What is the schematic from? A traditional design?

That's absolutely false. The vast majority of users on this forum with top tier GPUs are running air cooling, at most they might have an AIO on their CPU. You'll find that the trend continues pretty much everywhere else. If they sold the card with only a water-block their sales figures would be in the toilet. Anyone intending to put the card in a custom loop will be more than capable of removing the stock cooler.

I have a 4790K overclocked to 4.8Ghz and do it on aircooling (stock voltage), i have tried watercooling but watercooling is so damn noisy especially the pump. Even then most of the watercooling used in end end systems are AIO coolers so again no. I use a Thermalright silver arrow a damn good air cooler, none of the AIO can touch it with noise and performance, i got rid of my Cosair H110 after a few days cause even with everything set to minimum it was significantly louder and provided about the same temps. I think the corsair min speed was 1000rpms going upto 2500rpms. While Thermalright is 500-1000rmps.

That's blatantly false. The best price/performance is in the 30-50USD range, the huge heatsinks with huge fans. Very quiet and surprisingly cool at low RPM (the whole point of a big fan). I have a Titan Fenrir Evo which copes with a 4.9GHz 2600k quite ok considering I spent so little money on it. Watercooling can be noisy you know, they have fans too fyi.

Partner with Arctic Cooling for Air, they are the Noctua of GPU Air Cooling. I been using them for 10 Years now. But everyone goes mental when they see a 3 Slot Videocard.

This sounds like one of those troll patents that apple is always crying about that ends up hurting the consumers.

Asetek patents is on the integration of the pump into the chip block which is lame it all base a round fish aquarium and other tech, I don't know what the hell the Patented Office was thinking as is no diff then the big electric water cooled motor with water pump that on gear reduction system mount dircet to motor and techly is no diff the how a hot rodded engine is cooled by using direct mount electric motor to drive a water pump impeller on water pump housing which has been around lot longer.

Your right except the patent they have makes use of it as CPU cooler, kind of backwards taking someone else idea and patenting it for a specific use, but patent laws do allow it, scope of vision. Right now the US government hold a patent for the use of one of the chemical components in marijuana (CBD). The patent (US6630507) is titled “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” and was awarded to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in October 2003. They have already licensed it to one big pharmaceutical company; kind of disgusting considering it is a plant created by mother nature (god). Patent laws are screwy, it allows people/companies with little to no actual innovation to patent someones/somethings idea and use it in situations where the original patent holder had limited their use to be to specific.

Idk, while I think the scope of their patent is ridiculous, Asetek actually licences their patents out for reasonable fees and does do it's own manufacturing/development -- especially in the server space. This isn't a company like Rambus that's essentially a think-tank (well was up until very recently) who doesn't build anything and just creates patents and runs on lawsuits. I really doubt Asetek will be able to block sales of the Fury X, but it can be a thorn in AMD's side until it gets resolved.

i don't know how deep this patent really is, but if it's anything like Apple style this will stand only in US, for rest of the world they can kiss it goodbye.

But if you stop think about what dose the all chip do make energy heat the cooler all it dose take alway that heat by transfer thur a radiator To me it no diff the mechanical power energy heat Yup I know all about that but it more about not change the law in legalizing marijuana but in stade they to get round the pre-law in to controlled substances act and allow it to be distributed on a state-to-state basis without violating federal statutes, but some state are legalized medical and recreational use of marijuana.

Seems like everyone in this situation is an idiot - Asetek for thinking AMD should be solely responsible (and for thinking anyone is going to support their products if they keep bullying companies), AMD for trusting Cooler Master that their cooler was problem-free, and Cooler Master for not learning to stop infringing on patents.
The patent system my nation has is so bogus...
Bogus? What a polite understatement.

Note that Asetek got a whole range of patents regarding water cooling. Asetek doesn't play nice, since they don't really provide coolers themselves nor do the engineering upon it for the products in question, beside that they just milk patents that should never exist on their account since it was invented by people who build their own homemade water-cooling systems in the 90's. Kind off embarrassing that their man in charge is a fellow countryman.
