This is how the manufacturers have to "adapt" to get around that Patent. Is it Asetek's patent for Pump-in-waterblock thats holding all these back ? I can't remember the company....

How is it holding them back when almost everyone making AIO puts pump in water block? It's a genuine question.

They have to Pay Asetek for the use of that patent. If they don't want to pay, and try and get around it, they have to make it so it can't be caught up in the patent, so it has to be physically different. One of the other manufacturers has a little tube going from the block to the pump, even though they are next to each other, because that is enough to not be caught by the patent. It could be that Asetek is demanding huge amounts of cash, I don't know...

Most of the AIO units sold in the US are actually produced by Asetek and sold under different branding. That's how they get around the patent issue.
