And don't forget that the graphical part of the M1 is above the GTX 1050 at worse... too bad it's Apple only.

On apple, the equivalent intel is more expensive and eat more energy than the M1.

It's great to see RISC type architectures getting some real love.
After I saw that "Breaking the x86 Instruction Set" video I really understood why someone would want to move away from a CISC style architecture.

Why are they running the Intel chips at not the single core max GHZ ? It should be over 5, not 3.xx
What does the Apple chip do maximum GHz.
How much does the Apple chip cost compared to Intel for someone buying it?
Until those are known this is like comparing Oranges to, er, Apples...
Undying
Is there anything else apple chip excel at beside passmark?

Doesn't make sense - how can a chip perform same amount of "work" at only 15W ? If that's the case why can't desktop CPUs run at 15W? Or do 10x the amount of work at 150W

Wait wait...
Tell me if this isn't an extremely biased way to put things:
"Apple's M1 processor has been sighted in PassMark benchmarking software, compared to the Intel Core i7-11700K the single-core performance crown seems to go to Apple...."
But the first in the table above the M1 is another intel of the same generation.
An below the 11700k there are all the 5 Ryzen 5000 chips!!!
And then :
"Here's the remarkable thing, the i7-11700K has a TDP of 125W, the M1 15W for."
When the same applies to all those below and above!!
Seriously, why the obvious bias!?
You could have said: "is above most Intel and all AMD offerings". But that would be fair and would put AMD on display and not blast exclusively Intel...which is first on the table!
Terrible.

Do any body really believe that Apple engineered a new chip from the ground up... or just stealed a design and then trough lawyers at it. Apple d.....

I find M1 very impressive, and I Wonder if that’s going to be a trend to home computing market.
I would gladly change to RISC (or something more complex based on it) in the near future, but I despise soldered stuff (CPU, RAM etc.) not allowing upgrades, especially on Desktops but also notebooks/laptops.
Coincidentally I started a discussion about Apple's M1 here 😀: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/let%E2%80%99s-talk-about-apple-m1.437313/#post-5899427

Slight note, single (&multi) core performance of the AMD 5xxx processors got slightly better after a bios update (where the cache speeds works much faster).
But damn impressive that new M1 chip. Wished we had that chip for pc's (RIP Intel & AMD though then most likely). I wonder with kickass cooling & more power you could even get much higher...
