Nice 😀 I also love how they made OS X Mavericks and iWork (with new h/w) free!

I love how they put their main competition as part of the marketing...

?????????? I don't see the "air" selling that good with the "mini" getting better ppi and the same internals.

Yes indeed :P “Our competition is different: They’re confused. They chased after netbooks. Now they’re trying to make PCs into tablets and tablets into PCs. Who knows what they’ll do next? I can’t answer that question, but I can tell you that we’re focused.” http://venturebeat.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/tim-cook-confused.png?w=558&h=313

Mini is already the popular version as it is. I'll go for the larger device though.

What he said was not false but of course it was spun in a positive way for Apple. No different than the Samsung GS3 commercials that aired in the states depicting Apple sheep queuing up in front of the store. Or the new Nokia commercials or the windows surface commercials if anything this was very professional compared to what the competition is doing.

You know i was more than willing to pay $349 if the new ipad mini was that price. However Apple decided to overprice it again and make it $400. What a joke.

At least this time your not getting a shrunk iPad2. They gave it the same resolution and SoC as the full sized iPad Air can't really complain about that. My friend at work just found out about this, this morning (he just bought his mini one month ago).

Even leaving out the great screen improvments, they leapfrogged 2 generations of internal hardware so I would say that the $70 price increase was fine. Or you could get the old mini for $300.

Yield costs and the display is what's driving the prices of these guys... The 64-bit Arm cpu is nice and all but at this point I feel like it's more a gimmick. Yes when apps do take advantage of them it will be nice, but that won't be for a long while for that kernel space to even be needed... Anyway, I will say cheers to Apple for pushing it at least. As long as they push for it, hopefully other arm SoC makers will start pushing for it as well.

That's true, but in a few generations when the stuff does come out everybody will already have hardware that supports it. It's not unlike the Athlon 64. Nobody used 64 bit at that time for obvious reasons, there was no hardware yet. By the time 64-bit software did get more popular most people had the hardware to deal with it.

Nice, this was expected. The original iPad mini has a pretty crappy display, especially compared to cheaper tablets like the new N7.

Problem is this hardware might be too outdated or lack other extensions that are required for apps in a few years. Athlon 64 was ahead of its time for the 64-bit support, but nothing at the time used it. And by the time something did, there was cheaper and better hardware.
