Just saw this SoC has 16 billion transistors. This is almost as much as a 3070Ti. Of course one in in samsung 8nm and the other in tsmc N4. But it's still impressive that a phone can have so many transistors.

Brasky:

The headline should be that Apple DIDN'T raise prices, not just repeating the old info that they have an exceptionally expensive phone. US Prices, EU etc. have their own taxes and policies that make everything more expensive. 😉 https://nypost.com/2022/09/07/apple-doesnt-raise-prices-for-new-iphones-despite-inflation-in-shocker-move/
Not quite accurate. Tax rates didn't change in my Country (Germany) for electronic products. Companies made their prices higher on their own abusing the current political situation.

Didn't the EU increase tariffs on products out of China? Edit: I could have sworn I saw an ars article around the time US was rising tarrifs on china that EU was following suit on some electronics but I can't seem to find it. In my search I did find a paper by a german economist explaining how the US tarrifs would have an effect on the EU regardless to whether EU followed suit or not.

I am not sure to be honest. I didn't follow this specific issue. I know about a regulation that is called "VerpackG" which forces exports/imports to use packaging material that has specific recycling capability. It caused quite some trouble to many international traders who regularly send items to Germany. And it bothers people living in Germany too, because of this it has become harder for us to import items that is not available in Germany. German politics were corrupted before COVID already, but ever since COVID it escalated so much, that it has become quite obvious how corrupted they are. I am aware of the fact that similar issues is happening all over the world in many countries, including the USA. Blocking China is wrong in so many ways that it is even more idiotic than blocking trades with Russia. If we stop production imports from China, then prices will skyrocket into values where even rich people will have trouble to pay for their expenses. They don't think before deciding bullsh't in politics. above 1k for the new iPhone? More like above 4k then. You get the point?

That's what we get for having gutter trash currency and 16% inflation. Get used to it.
