That would be like 0.05% of Apple's cash reserves. Outrageous! Apple will be left destitute.

What kind of jury would be qualified to understand any of the technical details of this supposed infringement???? Might as well have a jury of monkeys throwing bananas.

Surely a good Lawyer would compile all the relative details and jargon into a somewhat understandable script to present to the Jury? That's what I think anyway.

What kind of lawyer would be qualified to understand any of the technical details of this supposed infringement? The whole thing sounds like a joke. Guaranteed if you asked any of the jurors any type of technical question about it they wouldn't have a clue. And then it is just "Do you think Apple is big and bad? - if so you must return GUILTY"

I don't know any of the details... I just think logically, you would pay the right person to do the job, not just some random guy, considering the amount of money we're talking about.

Good for these pieces of trash. BTW, do Apple still have anti-suicide net at their Foxconn mega-facility ???

They probably have a tech expert as a witness who explain why it infringes on the patent. It's quite common to use such experts in many hearings, same as in countries with laws based on civil code and therefore no jury. Judges too are only experts on law and nothing else.

Just a point, it is not finished yet, this is the 1st judgement, Apple have bring on the table that they were just client of Broadcom... Next judgement will tell if Broadcom pay more or if it will stay this way...

I always enjoy it when Apple gets hammered for co-opting someone else's tech--when Jobs raided the Beatles music catalogue without permission, he said he stole their music as a "tribute" to the Beatles...he paid $50M cash for that particular tribute a bit later. But mainly, I like to see Apple sued like this because it makes up for all the companies Apple has sued in the past if they even looked cross-eyed at selling a 100% compatible Mac clone--even if the user had to buy his own copy of Mac OS from Apple! It's a good thing they became a cell-phone company because they wouldn't have survived much longer selling nothing but Macs.

I totaly agree about the past, but in here it is more complex broadcom have sold the "presumed" stolen tech to other company, Apple is only the biggest user and the one where the sue can succeed, and have more money too. If it was an Apple only product then 0% of chance for Apple to win, it's for that there will be a round 2. For Broadcom well... in any conclusion they will have to pay, for them the question is how much?.
