That 15 billion transistor count is insane when you think how little AMD's 5000 series has. Makes me wonder about any upcoming 5nm processors coming from the next gen Zens.

Be forced to use APPLE's closed sheep OS... not thank you...

Fortunately I don't play games on my phone, so I don't need a super powerful, and super expensive, phone. In fact I'd love a smartphone that's not a bloody phablet, but smartphones well under six inches are nearly extinct. Not that I'd pay the premium for an Apple, but I have heard rumours Apple is also scrapping the smaller models.

Any advance is good. However, the direction (not raw performance) can be a two edged sword. Going to the latest, fastest, greatest makes us forget some details on the way, but who are to decide what we want?
Steve Jobs said that it's rather difficult to find out what people want, it's best to just give them one device and they will learn their way around. Whatever what way it is.

Cell phones are so incredibly boring to me...;) Wonder if Apple will make the same mistake it always makes in marketing by advertising the "fastest CPUs in the world" that actually are not the fastest CPUs in the world by a country mile...? Like with the M1.
Surprising to see Intel copying Apple's approach in the M1 manner, though--evidently, Intel FABs are still years away from being able to manufacture chiplet CPUs. AMD really leapfrogged Intel with Ryzen/EPYC, apparently. AMD's Zen 4 looks to be far more interesting than AL, imo.

They said fastest CPU core not CPU.

Thing is using 8w of power vs AMD's 5950x that's up at 50w and it beats it in the vast majority of benchmarks lol.
In multithreaded workloads it loses, but again, CPU core not CPU.

Yeah I kind of agree. I was hoping Pixel 6 would have telephoto but they stuck it on the Pro model only. I have an S21 Ultra currently and it's just too big. I hate it. I want a 5" phone again - maybe ill get one of these foldable things.

512gb 12 pro max.
I have always been content with android phones, but now that top phones no longer have front facing speakers, replaceable battery, headphone jack, microsd, or price advantage, I swapped to fruity phone this gen. I was going to get Sony 3 but US delivery date and 5G support was guesswork and hoping. So now that most vocal apple cult types moved onto politics, I tried a fruity phone.
pro:
12 pro max is fast, smooth, and battery life, even when playing games, is incredible. Pictures and video are excellent quality and easy to take. Password and mail apps are 9/10. Safari is good but I still prefer brave. Bound is as good a substitute for smart audiobook player as can be done under IOS.
magnet charger is awesome!
cons:
Spacebar slide doesnât jump between letters. Mess up a a single letter, redo the whole word. This comes up often.
Apples no folder access is constant frustration and confusion for anyone who relies on that basic level of control and organization.
If you have your own video and audio files, apple is a nightmare/pita. Using iTunes to import was a huge and broken pita.
Backup is buggy piece of crap to just backup your contacts and passwords. It is constantly trying to SILENTLY grab unrelated files and then saying it canât backup because there is not space.
When you try to transfer your pictures and video off the phone to my home NAS, where I collect all my family movies:
1. super slow because, with what seems like a single threaded app, it is silently reencoding all your files. This can be disabled once you track down whatâs happening.
2. You get 2-3 versions of each file raw, compressed, and one something else I donât recall. Disabling this will save a lot of space and battery since your phone wonât be reencoding every 4K picture and video you take.
3. Even after transferring them off, lots of those pictures and videos are still clogging up your phone storage, iTunes, and iCloud.
The sheer amount of bull crap in playing one video file in VLC and copying a 10 second funny home video to home storage is incredibly tedious frought with apple silently fighting you for control and pretending folders donât exist at every turn.
I donât understand how, but the silent button on the side is constantly being flipped on while in my pocket. Several times a day my alarm and notifications go silent until I think to check the silent switch with ocd like frequency.
(Yes Iâm using the apple leather case so itâs not a off brand case causing the issue.)
6/10 last apple
ymmv.
Just thought Iâd write the review I wish I had found before I had was invested.

i'm laughing so hard right now...
i have to have a larger phone because i have big hands. i also buy clothes that have cell phone pockets so i don't need to worry about my pants...
but my gosh so many of the pc master race are Luddites when it comes to cell phones.
and btw, Apple has zero plans to get rid of the iPhone mini.
you just have to choose between tiny hands with tight pants đp) or going ahead holding your nose and buying the only phone that's taken your size concerns to heart - the mini.
Apple is going to continue with the mini as it's the most viable way of getting an iPhone into the the pockets of kids (esp. if their parents have them on a plan) because this will be the most common model "given away" as incentives.
