Just buy a good TV like the 50 inch sony X90J like i did for a monitor, much better picture quality and great gaming features. There aren't any good HDR gaming monitors at any price range unfortunately. You have to choose Gaming OR picture quality and not both so you might as well just buy a tv if you're going to compromise anyways. The only downside to the tv is that i have to manually turn it on but i can live with that.

That does at first seem like a great idea yet its not a good one. There is a big difference between a monitor vs a TV. You have not noticed how 'reviewers" don't even question this? There are many reasons for this.

What about 4:4:4 chroma, some TV are not optimised for it.

Care to elaborate?

Such screen sizes may be good for those that wanna get rid of TVs (in some countries you pay a tax for them) but still having a good size screen for both PC, games and movies/shows.

That's exactly what I did, minus the tax. But yes, no Smart TV please. I have my own "smart" HTPC device and whatever media server I can possibly want.

The Sony x90J supports both RGB and YCBbCr 444 , i think being an modern HDR TV with gaming in mind that features on the TV are actually very good. Right now the only limiting factor for me is my 2070 Super and its lack of HDMI 2.1, with hdmi 2.0b i'm forced to switch between 60hz 12bit or 120Hz and 8bit. I don't know what the previous guy is talking about, This turned out to be a great decision. The way i see it, there are only a few types of PC monitors. 1. there's the average and inexpensive office monitor, 2. there is high end and very fast gaming monitors, 3. there is high end professional video/picture monitors, and lastly 4. extremely expensive gaming monitors that claim to do it all but are quite bad at every single one. The only appeal on some of them is the curve but i honestly dodged a bullet and canceled my order for the Samsung G9 which is plagued with issues and has a far inferior picture quality compared to my x90j. If i want surround view i'll just use my Valve Index πŸ™‚

really good all round, will keep this one in mind https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x90j but no variable refresh rate,it's pretty much instant no-go for a lot of gamers, including me. there's going to be judder,I get that with 165hz even when running high fps. on a 4K display running 120hz it's gonna feel very juddery.

actually, Sony has promised to release VRR in an update. It’s actually right in front in the marketing material
