What the heck is going on? Now they get another CEO and a new direction? What are the folks who came back on board suppose to think? Are they now going to be directionless or are they going to be even more focused.
Will they finally get their products into tablets or are we just going to have vaporware in that arena? Where are the CPU's going to go? What is going on there, I do not understand?

Apparently this was a pre-planned change.

"Welcome president, now we'll keep it simple, all you have to do is manage the production and design of an amd product that is more efficient, faster and cheaper than nvidias latest cards.
Now theirs are already out so we are at a disadvantage. We need to launch them soon before all our potential buyers have bought nvidia cards, let's say...4 weeks?"

At first i was like ok, AMD is going into the Kitchen appliances business, but then she opened her mouth.

Only time can tell if Mrs. Su can really make a difference. I sure hope so, for the sake of AMD and the GPU business!
BLEH!
She seems on the ball with regards to the architectural stuff (Kaveri release), so good things may come.

I don't know what can I think about this, first of all is she really a she, like in a traditional sense, is she a female? because she doesn't look like one, Iam sorry if this feels a bit sexist but she looks like a man.

All good things come to an end. Do PC enthusiasts really believe that it will always just be intel, nvidia or AMD running their rigs?

On the other hand, (.)(.), there's no need to fix it if it's not broken.
There was a time when I used to rush out and buy the latest in CPU's, thinking that doing so would make a vast difference to my rig.
But I was wrong.
A mere tweak here and there was enough to keep it more or less on top of things.

This isn't an Intel vs AMD thread. This thread is about AMD getting a new CEO....again. AMD and Intel both have good products when used for the tasks that actually take advantage of their strengths.
AMD has a long history of either showing up late or asleep at the wheel. They also have a piss poor marketing department. Outside of graphics cards they have almost no brand recognition at all. This is very bad for a company that survives by selling products. If people don't recognize your brand, they're less likely to buy it.
AMD has developed some great "technology" over the years but being late to launch products on a consistent basis gives Intel and NVidia a chance to respond to new "technology" far too soon for AMD to ever capitalize on it. The TDP and power draw of the Bulldozer based processors wouldn't have been an issue if they had been launched on time and not years late.
Hopefully the new CEO can finally turn things around....Rory Reed did pretty poor at addressing the major issues. From a public view, it just looks like his entire plan for correction was to cut staff and not address the product launch or marketing failures to any extent. The product launch parties are quite unnecessary expenses as well. That money would be better spent on a brand recognition campaign imho.....
