"A Vega 10 has 8 GiByte HBM2 is unoptimized at GTX-1080 level" A GeForce GTX 1080 overclocked at over 1,900 MHz is there about 10 per cent slower. Note, however, that first, no Vega-optimized driver was used, but simply a Fiji driver with a little additional debugging work.

Impressive! Lets see what prices it will have and actual performance. Vulkan is great, and we all know it benefits AMD more, however lets see more benchmarks! This looks promising. 🙂

Can't wait for tomorrow. Zen + Vega! 🙂

Considering it was in a case with no ventilation at all (closed so that the press couldn't snoop), and with debug mode drivers, it's actually impressive. I can actually see it being faster than the 1080.

Been waiting so long... *breathing intensifies*

Wish this would have come a couple of months sooner.

Considering Guru3d's own review shows a 1080 OC'd running Doom at 70FPS http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/zotac_geforce_gtx_1080_arcticstorm_review,19.html at 4k and a Fury X handling it at 60FPS - so if Vega, even with debug drivers, is only managing around 13% better performance than Fury X, that's not very promising :| I mean, I would love a highend AMD card, but "around OC'd 1080 performance" in a title that heavily favours AMD is not that good 🙁

Big AMD event at some other event that I forgot the name of where they'll talk more about Zen and possibly Vega. Keep your eyes on the news for tomorrow morning, it'll probably be held in some place where it'll be late for europe.

they final releasing something that on par if lil slower then 1080gtx if it cost 100+less they might have something

I'm so happy to see these results. We need the competition these coming years to truly push the boundaries. I'm glad AMD is bouncing back in both the GPU & CPU departments. Can't wait to see more.

well providing this is single card solution. and shouldnt HBM2 have much higher bandwidth then 512gb/s ?

Thanks, will do.

All the things Hilbert knows and can't talk about 🤓 well, guess we the masses will have to wait till tomorrow to know more at the AMD Zen event, fingers crossed for something that is "Hopefully" worth the wait:)

If it's faster than a 1080 I guarantee it won't be cheaper. AMD will milk it for as long as they can until Nvidia comes out with something faster.

Could be the same price. But would be great (and we need that, because Nvidia milking increases every year) if new Vega will be cheaper than 1080. I'll buy it instantly

So you're telling me that AMD will be going from a roughly $250 price tag (from the 480) to a price higher than $700 when just going up one or two performance notches (in AMD's tier)? That is ridiculous. They need sales, and charging more than the already overpriced 1080 is not going to help them with that. AMD has a lot of stigma to shake off, and the only way for them to get that is more customers. This GPU could be better than the 1080 in every conceivable way (who knows, maybe even performance-per-watt) but Nvidia holds such a greater marketshare and have more diehard fans. They alone will continue to hurt AMD's rep no matter what. EDIT: The only time in recent history AMD charged a lot more than Nvidia was the Fury Nano, and that's because Nvidia didn't have anything to compete with that GPU considering its physical size. AMD is not going to charge more for something that has competition, even if the competition is worse.

If their GPUs of last 3-4 years are anything to go by, you may need to wait 6-12 months for drivers to eke out the extra performance. In their rush to get cards out, AMD never seem get full performance on release day.
