What is going on? Am I in no alternate dimension? What is the source for this rumor? Is it that random forum post from the other thread...?

So Vega10 is the equivalent to 1080, and Vega11 that is supposed to go against "big" Pascal is still set for 2017 though, right? Either way, it was probably a good move by nvidia to go for GDDRX on "small" Pascal, as it stands they will have quite a headstart. Polaris Vega10 will go well with Battlefield 1 launch though, if they can pull it off so soon AND have HMB2...

GeForce GTX 1080 seems to be performing seriously good and as such AMD's board partners are in a bit of a fright.
Looks like Pascal is a real winner here 😉 The 1070 at its price point should be a golden card.

Well I know which card to get this year if true.

Uh oh... seems some people overestimated Polaris *cough cough* maybe Polaris isn't the magic tiny die that will take on nvidia's 50% larger die Maybe AMD needs at least die size parity to match nvidia (big improvement over last gen nonetheless)

Naming is all over the place. Polaris 10 is big, Polaris 11 is small. I'm gonna assume it's the same for vega Vega 10 = New fury Vega 11 = 490/x

Don't, as stated many times... Raja Koduri himself said that numbers are just numbers and they may be anything with next generation or be gone again.

Well Raja can say whatever he wants, if Polaris 10 is the big one, and Vega 10 is the small one, someone in AMD's decision-making structure deserves a kick in the nuts In fact, I will argue that having arbitrarily chosen names for various GPUs using the same uarch is a terrible idea.

The numbers just represent which gpu went out first..

Too many times AMD has made crazy claims when Intel or Nvidia actually comes out with real specs for a new product and too many times, we find there is no follow-through (think bulldozer).

No, they don't, because Polaris 11 was demoed before 10, and neither of them are out. Even if they were simply indicating which GPU was released first, that would be a doubly stupid naming scheme...

Oh dear God.. At the beginning ppl figured that p 11 was the big one just because of the number but instead p10 is the big one... Read between the lines I really dont understand what is so confusing here p11 is the small one p10 is the big one vega could also have this numbering..

Just when AMD couldn't seem to be any more pathetic, they somehow manage to raise the bar.

By giving us hbm 2.0 early?? Yeah that is really pathetic

Oh dear God, some random ****ing anecdote totally unrelated to what I was saying. Let me spell it out for you. Your claim
The numbers just represent which gpu went out first..
Reasons for your claim being demonstrably untrue; 1. Neither of those GPUs even 'went out' 2. Polaris 11 was demoed first Now you're asking me to read between the lines, which lines ? What am I expected to conclude from your statement that is clearly untrue ? I really dont understand what is so confusing here
p11 is the small one p10 is the big one vega could also have this numbering..
I don't understand what is confusing you either, the rumor claims Vega 11 is the big one, and Fox defended the possibility of this nomenclature.

Do I need to paint everything for you?? At ces first Polaris was presented in an demo, back then no one knew which one 10 or 11 and everyone jump to conclusion that it was 10 just because of the NUMBERING scheme as in 10 being less than 11.. Only after a month and a half amd said in amdreddit it was p 11 that was demoed at ces the small one not the big one.. It was confirmed by amd that in fact p10 is the big one.. do you understand now or do i need to go step by step with you?

Wtf are you saying? This is illegible. I'm saying consistency is key. If Polaris 10 is the big one, Vega 10 should be the big one. If Vega 11 is the big one and Vega 10 the small one then someone deserves a kick in the balls, which is what I originally said. So now it looks like you're just arguing with me without having understood my comment.

Not necessarily.. Raja said on many of occasions that the numbering scheme as in 9, 10 , 11, 12 or whatever does not represent the gpu placement in the market. We could very well see Vega 9 to be the cut down version of Vega 10 that will allegedly come in October.. No one knows for a fact.
