My next upgrade.

Yeah, I think I will make the switch over to this unless Intel miraculously pulls a rabbit out of their bag.

So they are skipping the X770(E) chipset? Hopefully the motherboards will return to a more wallet friendly level, but I'm not expecting it.

Doubt it. Seems the mobos are how the AIBs are making most of their money now. Not much margin on GPUs these days.

And... what do they do better? I'm curios and didn't see any announcements or speculations in regards to the 800 chipset before.

Take most things sourced from Moore's Law Is Dead with a grain of salt. They aren't particular about the rumor mill "news" they repeat. Like FUD news/zilla before them (anyone remember their original name from the 00s?), they generally shoot so many shots rumor-wise that they will always hit a few.

I was referring to the 9000 series CPUs. I doubt there's anything particularly interesting about the new mobos.

Its has bigger numbers than my 5800x3d/X570 rig.

Yeah, right? Why? Why?? Doesn't X770 sound cool enough for AMD naming department? Lol

So they are skipping numbers even for their chipsets... Anyway, i`m curious to see how good the 9000 CPUs are going to be.

I would imagine similar to the jumps from 3*** series to 5***series and also to 7*** series. So going from a 5800x3d to a 9800x3d will be like going 3800x to 7800x (relative), and that is 100% factual o_O

Ah thanks, like I said, I haven't even read about them yet.

I salute you Sir for your honest and self-reflected acknowledgement that it's the upgrade itch.

If you didnt upgrade to zen4 by now wait for the zen5 its gonna be worth it.

Thats the main thing as I've said a few times on here, looking to put my 5800x3d into my lads rig to replace his 3800x and was forcing myself not to buy 670e and 7800x3d. This next upgrade might be a big one as I might finally replace my Silverstone Temjin Tj07, I'm thinking buying a test bench and adding some panels, almost like a skeleton with organs but no skin. Get all arty and stuff.

Oh my, the TJ07 takes me back. I should probably replace my Obsidian 800D one day 😉

I've been looking into Thermaltake P5. Really like the look of it.

USB 4

Zen5 (9000 series) will be my switch to DDR5 as well. But probably not a high-end X870 mobo, will wait for 850 mid range or whatever the name will be, it's enough. I sincerely hope 16c cpus will be more mainstream, right now they are still very, very expensive ... so most of us are stuck with the 8-cores. If Granite Ridge is yet another 6c/8c/12c/16c set I'll be quite disappointed.

Well, if USB4 is the only thing this chipset has to offer, I don't think I'll be spending extra for it whenever I upgrade my CPU.

Are you talking about personal jumps? Because there was a 400 and 600 series.

Depends do you really need those cores. Im more for massive increase in ipc, faster ram and more gaming performance.
