Indeed, i'll still wait for the custom air cooleds though :P
I thought that's just normal air cooler with 295X look, using big axial vent.. Or is this suppose to be a hybrid like 295X is? edit: ah nvm need to read more carefully 😀

I love playing games @ 1080p with my 290X, every game is a damn joke... Now if I could only get a better CPU :\ My i7 920 is aging.

Some rumors say 30% faster than a ti. I tend to believe that more than 3%. Gk110 has been out a very long time.
Just curious to where you heard that from? I really hope that is true, I'll have a reason to upgrade.

Right, 970GTX has 1 -2 smx disabled vs full GM204 and its slower then 780GTX, I really doubt those extra SMX will do 30% boosts.. We saw the diff between 670 vs 680gtx..

What if this is aimed at the full chips launching from Nvidia in the first half of 2015? Wouldn't that line up both time wise and performance wise more I guess.

Amusing. I heard that it is actually going to be slower. Source: http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/anton-shilov/nvidias-geforce-gtx-980-will-not-beat-geforce-gtx-780-ti-insider/
LOL!!!!!!!! That article is based on a post in oc.uk forums where Gibbo speculated it will not beat the 780Ti with no proof. He later made a statement in that same thread about the "journalist" writing articles sighting his post as the source. So here you go the 980 will beat the 780Ti by 1,000,000% in Fire strike extreme and will only consume 1W all while making you a turkey sandwich. Source: Me (all it takes is a post in a forum to be considered credible right)

Dammit, where's my sammich?! :P

You don't have a 980 no sandwich for you.

LOL, What makes your rumor link any better than mine? Thats the amusing part.
...yeah, that's the point. I had to counter one nonsensical rumour with another. And don't call me LOL.

Sorry I think you are wrong regarding heat and power... I am after a 770 with at least 4GB, nearest price is like £260, i.e. too much! A 280x with same performance is like £200. For that price I would snap it up in heart beat! But even today I am still reading about artifacts still popping up in games? My last AMD card 8 years ago had artifacts, hence why I left AMD for Nvidia! For me it's the DRIVERS that are keeping me away!
Whilst it is no secret that AMD's drivers tend to be more susceptible to artifacts and other compatibility issues, nVidia have also had their share - so i feel that argument to be solely based on a single user's experience, if it was possible to average out the amount of issues per user the results would be a lot closer than people think. the price is literally the only thing saving AMD's bacon at the moment. if you had the choice of purchasing 2 cards capable of performing roughly the same - but one consumed more power and ran hotter, would you buy it? - that is where i was going with my original statement. also, if someone is power conscious enough they could justify the extra expense on an nvidia GPU and get their money back in power savings over a length of time. Where i live i dont pay for my electricity so that isnt a problem for me (hence the full AMD build i currently have). but i can understand why people would be deterred from buying AMD components if that was the case

i'd buy it for the endless supply of turkey sandwiches! i feel like the wattage is a little on the high side though... i wonder what the 950's wattage would be - im going to assume it'll actually generate power lol :eyebrows:

lol. Can't make everyone happy but looking at your rig are you really gonna worry about your power bill. Just enjoy your damn sandwich.

Any TDP over 200W warrants liquid cooling, regardless if it's for a CPU or GPU. AMD probably also want to take case airflow out of the loop (p.n.i.).
No it doesn't. That is why Arctic Cooling exists and we have this cooler ranghttp://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html rated for a 300W cooling capacity. I had one of the older models I think it was the 3rd iteration on my old GTX480 and it cooled it to 55C full load running Kombuster torture test for 1hr and I had that card overclocked to 700/1800/2000 @ 1.2v and we all know how power hungry and hot those 480's were.

Since he is capable to run it with 600W I would not be worried. His GPU is max 250W if he uses +20% Power Slider, your GTX670 SLI is max 2x 170W without OC. And I do not think that rest of his system is eating additional 90W more than yours considering OC on both sides even when FX8350 is taken as eater. Because i7-2600k at 4.8GHz is not exactly something what does not generate a lot of waste heat. And since you likely OCed hell out of everything like it should be, then you may have like 10-15% higher power consumption. xD And who cares about watts? At idle it is always fine, and when loaded? Well, I love things turning Watts into polygons.

For a new card, I would give accelero any day for proper hybrid cooling like r9-295x2 has. Accelero Advantages: - It cools GPU really well Accelero Disadvantages: - 3 slot solution limits use of boards for CFX configurations - poor memory / VRM cooling - all heat stays inside case and require additional airflow management - in CFX cooling performance is greatly degraded Hybrid Advantages: - It cools GPU really well - only 2 slots taken allowing broader selection of boards for CFX - adequate memory /VRM cooling - Big part of heat goes out from case allowing use of smaller cases with worse airflow - cooling performance does not suffer in CFX configurations much Hybrid Disadvantages: - for each card there is required mounting slot for radiator and therefore may limit case selection Side note, My accelero works good only due to memory/VRM cooling modifications I did, and even so I do not like temperature VRMs goes to.

Yes it does. One does not exclude the other. And a bad ass STOCK hybrid solution is simply more impressive than one of those shiny, cocky nVidia aircoolers. AMD took a lot of flak for their silly dustbuster coolers last year so doing something about that is also a sound marketing strategy.
