This will be interesting

Great. Looking forward to see what Zen can bring to the table.

What can it bring... BSOD anyone? Though it will be great to finally see some real device at last.

Yeah AMD, I like them for what they are to achieve giving the fact that they have a fraction of cash that Intel has. World needs a powerful competitor like never before, not stagnation and prices going up constantly. The proper advice for everyone here is to just buy ZEN with blind bag on a head, it does not matter now if it is going to be fast or slow, its not funny anymore.

It's actually interesting that they mention e-sports. All e-sports games use bad, single-threaded engines. Unless they have really solid single-core performance, these are not the best titles for a CPU showcase.

Another preview with a lot of the typical PR jargon with no concrete info, which basically tells me their product isn't as good as they had hoped, and is probably going to flop. Happened with the Fury, the 390/390x, Polaris, etc. If this thing isn't as fast as haswell I'm never going to wait for another AMD product ever.

Zen is a 4k gaming cpu, isn't it? 😀

Oh man, I would never replace my flop 390 8GB for a 970 3.5GB.

Sigh, the 390 8Gb was a decent card, if you could look beyond the ridiculous TDP and price. Not really sure why you are comparing it to the GTX 970, which was a better card at the time, especially if you took overclocking into consideration. Anyone using a GTX 970 would still be happy with their purchase as it is still an awesome card, and the 3.5Gb really isn't holding it back, as it wouldn't be enough for anything beyond 1440p anyways. Oh and do keep in mind that the GTX 970 was released way back in September of 2014, while we didn't see the 390/390x until June 2015, so the people who bought the GTX 970 have gotten plenty of performance out of their purchase already. It wasn't until recently the 390 started outperforming the GTX 970 (though it would be great to see an OC vs OC comparison at 1080p just for fun in newer games).

390 is a better card, the price when i bought mine was exactly the same, OC never did any good to my PCs over the years, why all of u ppl insist on 3.5GB being not the problem with only higher resolutions ? open your eyes 3.5GB means to everyone that this card has a life expectancy of less than half of the 390, its going to land in a garbage sooner - that is a big deal. About the performance back in time, I looked everywhere for it, every single site with 390 vs 970 or 980 even. The result was that 970 was faster more often but just a tiny tiny bit faster, when 390 was faster it was really a big jump ahead. Some very rare results showed that 390 is capable of beating 980, 970 never did that! and its got a "free" freesync which i want to taste some day, and a better driver support. If u could compare cars in that way, which one would u buy ? 1. a supercar that is: fast, good looking, eats a lot of fuel and very rarely does a Nürburgring faster than a way more expensive competitor 2. a supercar that is: fast, good looking, way more economical to run but the rust eats it more than twice as fast

Two weeks.

To be honest, apart the VRAM, the 390 is basically a rebranded 290 with a slight overclock. And the 290 was released in November 2013.

What if Zen performs like Intel CPUs and AMD charge as much? Anyone thought about that? We see this happening in the mobile industry iPhone 7 and Samsung S7 both expensive phones.... we might be in for a shocker!

That's why I didn't include the 290/290x in the "AMD fail"-list above as the 290/290x were great cards, while the 390/390x didn't bring any useful improvements to the table.

I can name you 1 e-sports title that actually thrives on Quad cores. CSGO. Framerate tanks massively once you disable multicore support. I think the command was something like mat_queue_mode, could be wrong.

I would still buy AMD just to be sure Intel never ever again change 1 pin in a socket

Oh right! In that case I agree with you. The 3xx series was quite useless.

So u are trying to tell us that a great card is not great ? and 2x memory boost is not useful at all after couple of years when u try to run a game and u get a message that says "not enough memory"

Wonder if they'll demo Vega in their Zen rigs as well...

Good catch, I didn't remember that. I can't think of any other title though, and CS:GO already gets insane framerates.
