"together we advance gaming" ... and proceed to lunch the RX7900XT at "just" $1499 with same performance of RTX4090... Ya, I don't have high hopes. AMD is just another corporation wanting money after all. There's no way they have the inventory volume needed to drive the price down, so they'll sell for high prices, again.

haste:

I'm certain that new Radeons are not the only thing they'll officially announce that day...
If you are referring to Xen4 X3D, those are set for CES 2023.

I just hope they give us more sensible options like 500$ 7700xt not only high end.

You´re probably correct but there`s a chance, a small one, that maybe AMD learned something from the lackluster Ryzen 7000 sales and maybe they will price their new GPUs better to steal some market share from Nvidia and sell in decent volumes, in the middle of the current situation.

AMD 7xx CPU and GPU markets are separate. There is very little link between to two other than they are new. The CPU requires new ram and motherboard, which adds greatly to it's expense. The GPU is just that, a GPU. I expect them to be priced closely to Nvidia across the line up, as long as it is competitive. It would be nice to see the 7600xt and 77xt a bit cheaper, but that is wishful thinking.

Here's hoping they announce mid level tier cards. It's the kind of kick in the butt the industry needs to get things somewhat back to normal

I am already in for a deal if they are able to provide near RTX 4090 performance at much lower watts per hour. And of course, if it's not just a "paper-launch" this time around.

Well Zen 4 being widely available, if they really have lowered zen 4 volume production, they can still swap the paid production they don't use to produce more zen 4 into producing more RDNA 3. Who knows ?

I hope they do. Imagine the 7700xt being faster then a 3090!

the silicon is already baked, processed, wafer-ized, and fabricated. the production run of Zen 4 is far larger than any gpu run by anybody at anytime. Zen43D will only be coming from one fab and that fab isn't compatible with gpu production (until they too go 3d cache). the production slots at this node aren't swappable as TSMC has plenty of other clients @ node. like Nvidia, Intel, Apple, Qualcomm, etc... which is one of the reasons Nvidia was crying in their beer. they had to pay the piper before the economy slowed and are stuck with the majority of production just like everyone else. AMD, Nvidia, Intel & co may be able to shave 10-15% off of committed runs but that's it.

forget about $500 7700xt

look at zen4, they're cutting down production and keeping the premiums even when it doesn't sell.

Not going to be come til next year. Probably announced at CES along with the Zen43D chips. This live stream is going to be for the top dogs, Navi31 (7900XT) and Navi32 (7800XT). I believe the 7700XT and the 7600XT will use Navi33.

very different. zen 4 is new uArch @ new node which always = more money. however, RDNA 3 is also new uArch @ new node, but with very much lower costs to make the top two models. the "7700xt" is the monolithic one which will have the same manufacturing costs as Nvidia with the same or very similar yield as AD104. i expect them to significantly undercut the position as Nvidia has reeled back the "4070" (and/or 4080 12gb) which i do not think will be priced properly until the refresh.

This is more pragmatic analysis. Totally agree. AMD in all of its heart trying to be an NVIDIA
