Umm... Yeah. 0.8 point shift. That could be just random fluctuation. AMD really needs to up their game. It would be nice if the shares remained withing the 40-60% margin all the time.

0.8% of market share... marvellous gains on the AMD side.

Something I guess is better than nothing. Well done AMD.

Hopefully this is a trend that continues to pick up, now that the Fury stuff is out. If not, we can look forward to the relative stagnation that the CPU sector has been enjoying for years, but with GPU's.

I really hope AMD will get back on her feet, with the help of Samsung's 14nm license, if we want competition to continue we must support AMD especially the graphic department otherwise it will be like intel now no major CPU perfomance gains since Sandy bridge.

I was expecting a punchline opening the thread, when I read the thread title

It may only be a small gain, but as Tesco say every little helps.

Probably helps that fury is available now and prices are a little more competitive I can't wait to see what hbm2 is like for my 4k this 670 just isn't doing it for me.

I'm pretty sure that those gains are closely tied to availability of the AMD products.

It's a start, so AMD had approximately one GPU sale for every 100 units sold for Nvidia. Will be interesting to see whether Fury or Rebrands helped in the gain for quarterly Units sold.

Unless many people go out and pick a video card at random, I would say that's quite unlikely.

I don't think he meant that people were buying their cards at random, but that if they bought in Q2 or Q3 might very well be a random fluctuation, since Nvidia cards were widely available before.

Or the fact that the figures are based on estimates. Depending on how they gathered the data (and how much of it), there is generally a few % points of statistical uncertainty.
Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the industry's research and consulting firm for graphics and multimedia, announced estimated PC graphics add-in-board (AIB) shipments and suppliers' market share for Q3'15.

Nothing can bring me back to the Red side after the experience i had with them.

Oh, missed that, you're absolutely correct.

"Overall GPU shipments increased 9% from last quarter, Nvidia increased 21%, AMD increased 16%, and Intel increased 5%" http://jonpeddie.com/publications/market_watch/ According to the title of the report nVidias share should increase, Something is not right, I think nVidia lost in AIB market and AMD lost in laptop market. That is the only way to make the title right

Good news. Competition benefits the end user, i.e. us.
