We already learned about this last week, the good news is that the number of layoffs is smaller then expected, the bad news .. it's still a lot. All those poor people. AMD announced a third-quarter net loss of $157 million, or 21 cents per share, on revenue of $1.27 billion. This compares to a profit of $ AMD takes $157 million loss cuts 15% of its workforce

What exactly is AMD doing as of late, are they really neutering there development teams just so there one to many heads of the company can keep there pay? might be great for the heads of the company by bad for there bottom line sooner then later. It bad enough that there cpu's as of late have been crap and dont even compete with intel, intel dont need more reason to charge more for there stuff then they already do

Perhaps those new Smartphones have something to do with this. There's a lot of fun to be had tweaking and overclocking them, as well as trying out a new OS. In fact, making calls and sending texts seems to be pretty low on the agenda for the owners. There's even a video on YouTube showing how the Galaxy S3 can be used as a computer. 😉
