There is nothing wrong with TPup testing, it's just I linked the 1440p which is closer to what gaming is these days rather than 1080p. Regardless, it's still no upgrade from my i7 for games, rather invest the money in a better video card.
Wut? 😀 1080p relies on more CPU power. That means you get less difference as you ramp up resolution. Anyway, check 1080p results at Techpowerup. There is a bit more difference towards Intel models there. Every other sites have AMD lead. Howevery, it's really funny how you say (relying only on the TPU result) 1440p is closer to what gaming is these days. Because until Zen 2, all Intel fanboys were hanging on the FHD results. 😀 Funny, really.

Whelp that's it boys and girls. AMD in my mind have finally done it, they have beaten Intel now on every front. Gaming was the last stronghold. The cons.... Goodluck getting your hands on these, they will now be like gold and sell out everywhere! Sadly I am not looking for an upgrade yet but hopefully with the 6000 series if they keep this top game, I will happily swap over. Intel, you need a new architecture. Sandy bridge was good, but its been 10 years now... stop beating the dead horse.

I'm able to buy 5800X from my shop in Canada right now - they haven't added the listing for 5900X though I wonder as a gamer if the 5800X might actually beat the 5900X

As a gamer, the 5800x is deffo the best choice.

Probably because our prices are what they are and anyone with half a brain is trying to buy them elsewhere.

I was not expecting results that good. The 5900X is 4c/8t less than the 3950X yet offers almost the same performance. These models have 3 chiplets (including the IO die) right? Aren't some models like the 3800X supposed to have 2? Because if so, I sure am excited to see the results of those.
Yes the 5800x has one less chiplet i think. If it's the case I would not be surprised if the 5800x actually is as good for gaming as those.

1% Lows Curious how long the stock on these is going to be wonky for? I want a 5900 so I can throw my 3900X in my server.

Insanely good cpu. Well done AMD.

Impressive. Intel lost its last bastion, games, for the time being. AMD worked really hard.

Well, Intel would argue their last bastion is "the platform". If the 5000 series doesn't have any major hiccups like in previous generations, then AMD won in that regard too.
