Cool ! In between I finish reading... Edit: Finished. As expected, they offer nothing new. Everyone, go back to sleep until Zen 3 launches.

one would have to be crazy to buy one of these with Zen 3 on the way.

In my part of the world ... 3900X is $516 and 3900XT is $629 (both including 25% VAT) so that's $113 dollars more expensive. All 3 XT models are available for purchase and in stock. I'm hoping that's not a sign of things to come with Zen 3 pricing.

I think youd get better overclock results by lowering the voltage. Many boards go insane at overvolting if left on auto. 1.3 to 1.33v is the sweet spot in my experience, any higher and thermals quickly become unmanageable since 7nm is so thermally dense. Boosts to 4.7GHz are nice if you actually see that during load.

In a few weeks, things will level out. New product SKUs always carry that extra 'price premium' due to new demand.

In Norway 3900xt has the exact same price as 10900k. Epic fail.

They're ******* ****! :D

"Hey guys, we're still here, please buy our CPUs !" I have seen ridiculously useless refreshes from Intel many times, but this one really tops the chart as the most pointless CPU refresh ever. They literally offer NOTHING better, quite the contrary, they offer LESS: Pay more to lose an otherwise useful cooler that could go on a cheaper/older secondary AM4 cpu ... srsly ?

These cpus are there just make intel life even more miserable. People will still go with older skus until like HH said prices level out.

In UK, cheapest prices: 3600 - £157 3600XT - £249 3800X - £279 Yea, it's a novelty model and prices are screwed, but +58% cost for single digit perf increase, that's real bad value. Might as well throw in £30 and get 2C/4T more.

Yes the 10900K should be cheaper 😀

As I feared when I saw that the base clocks haven't changed: for existing owners of the equivalent X variant these XT variants are not worth it. For new customers they may make more sense, but seeing as the cooling solution needed for running one of these has gone up a notch the original X models make more sense. I guess the real innovation will come with the Zen3 models, these XT models seem to be nothing more than a marketing exercise.

Under full load, 75 Degrees C with the Kraken X62, no thanks

I'm willing to bet the exact opposite will happen, at least initially. The X models will get more expensive, as people rush to buy them (thinking they will disappear, replaced) instead of these lousy overpriced XT models, while at the same time AMD reduces production/release on "X" models, allocating more of the chips to the XT ones. By the time Zen 3 ( 4000 series ) launches, there will still be a 60-70 $ / € difference between X and XT, for that amazing 2-3% single threaded extra and LOST OF A DECENT COOLER. Mark my words. --- Note: Unlike some trolls on this forum, I am an actual AMD Zen customer with no less than three computers in my home having a Zen CPU (just 1 single Intel left operational). I like AMD's new products, some could call me a "fanboy", but this particular launch makes NO SENSE whatsoever for the consumer ! (It does make sense for AMD, if people fall for it, as they will get more profit from selling the same thing, or actually, selling LESS, see the gaping hole where the cooler was before) nVidia: The more you buy the more you save AMD: The more you buy the less you get Badumtsssss.

I was surprised to see this on the 3800XT. I was going to buy this just to buy it for fun but since you got a dud for overclock, not everyone did. I may just buy a 3600XT to play with and sell my 3800X
We halted tweaking this processor as we could not yield tangible results, at best we could go for an all-core 4200 MHz, but barely.

Since these share the same MSRP as the non-T parts, these are less stupid than I thought they would be. These are in fact better-binned chips, particularly the 3800XT. It's slightly faster than the 3800X but runs at a lower wattage, both when idle and under load. If you don't intend to use the stock heatsink (and let's face it, most of you probably wouldn't) it's actually not a bad alternative to the non-T models, at least if they're not on sale. Still... not sure if I would get them.

It tells me that Ryzen does not have that good IPC.
No, that's not it. The memory and inter-core latency is what kills Zen 1/2 gaming performance. The CPU cores just drum their thumbs waiting for data to move from and to memory while executing a game engine... Leaked Renoir (4000G) benchmarks show better gaming performance than Matisse even with 1/4 the cache size, simply because it's a single-die solution with much lower latency. Zen 3 maybe have resolved this issue by having shorter IF links allowing for much faster clocks and lower latency, and also an unified 8-core CCX... but I guess we'll see.

When the prices of XT level up with current prices of base CPUs, the base CPUs will get cheaper... so you can either get cheaper than now base cpu, or for the same price better CPU than before the release. Its a win win, I dont get the moaning here. Cheer up ppl! 🙂 Its good these CPUs are here. Its not BAD. So why all the negativity about something positive happening?

My 3600 (with D14) gets 3691 in Cinebench 20 thanks to the way the boost works with temps. I'm quite pleased with that. 😀 This is the first time I've questioned what AMD is doing since Bulldozer. This 'refresh' is pointless.
