Did AMD's chip just win in Browser benchmark? I thought that those run on AMD really badly. There is still some gaming difference to intel while using Strongest current gaming GPU on 1080p. (Wonder how many members here use 2080Ti on 1080p in all games. Or at least some... outside DX-R as there fps is too low to have difference caused by CPU.)

The guy who makes the ryzen memory calculator said that the cpus are artificially locked behind a bios and we need 1.0.0.3AB to reach full potential. Who knows. We'll see.

Thanks for the review! Gaming performance is more than good enough (not like I've got the graphics power to even hit those fps anyway) but productivity wise it looks amazing for the money!

I've thought all core OC would be a bit better than this...

Appreciate the hard work Hilbert et al Zen 2: Damn impressive results!! 🙂

Christmas in July! The 3700x is a fine upgrade to my 1600x.

Thanks a million Hilbert! Never ever felt like this when waiting for a darn review. 3700X it is then. Gotta find deals on it and fast.

Cheers mtrai, fixing.

Hmm was gonna get the 3900X but i guess it's the 3700X instead. Was hoping boost would help more. Maybe it would if the load was across multi CCX's but recent update seems as much of the work load on a single CCX which looks to null the higher clock speed of boost. Still a decent upgrade from my 1700.

I'm mostly curious about infinity fabric scaling. 1:1 and beyond, so 3733 testing vs 3600/3200 and over 3733 as well

So, talking about tested games, in the worst case scenario @1080p (Far Cry 5) the 3700X is ~24.6% slower then the 9900K, in the best case scenario @1080p(The Witcher 3) is 2% slower... The 3700X cost 1/3 less ca (based average prices I see now on amazon) than the 9900K... I do not have a top-range GPU and I am actually on a Zen1 system with a good MB and a discrete 1500X... I know what I want for Xmas now... As for 3900X: not a big surprise that quite no-game scales over 8c/16t hardware... EDIT combopi 1.0.0.2, I guess the lack of the combopi 1.0.0.3AB is AMD or MB OEM fault...

@Geryboy You hit the nail on the head my friend, the price / performance ratio is excellent, especially for the 3700X (but the 3600, 3600X could be even better value for the gamer market)

Looks like all AMD needs to do now is figure out how to get their frequencies even higher. Not to say that more IPC improvements aren't welcome, but at this point their IPC seems to be top of the line, it's the frequencies that need improvements.

The 7nm processor revolution is here, join us as we review the new Ryzen 7 3700X & Ryzen 9 3900X processors from AMD. 7nm Zen2 processors have arrived. A new architecture, a chiplet design, X570 Chipsets and of course we have some procs to look at! Read article
3700X here we come!!!! Finally time to upgrade from my Ryzen 5 1600 ;D ;D ;D

Seems Intel still has a slight lead in the majority of games, but we'll see if that stays like that when more games results are available. I'm thinking of a massive number of games, like 100 or 200 titles, a compilation of results from all over the net. And then average the % difference. I'm also interested in the minimum/99 percentile fps. Overclocking is pretty disappointing which largely originates from the +5GHz hype in the months running up to today. But overall a great CPUs and a nice replacement in the future for my 2600, when they are at or near their lowest price point, or sooner if the need is there. And thx HH for including the 720p results, much appreciated.

Am I seeing things correctly that Zen 2 is achieving almost similar performance to intels cpus in games but with way lower clock speeds? Great review as always. Saw some statistics that 3900x would be losing roughly 2.8% on 1440p gaming to 9900K and same for 3700x which is my resolution. While both running for sure lower clocks then 9900K
