Few of them are even worse than APUs. But they are needed in workstations with stronger CPUs.

It's not exactly a re-brand as only the top reference looks like an existing card (but even then with a halved memory bus), and Polaris is good at stuff like computing and video playback. Of course there's no way you'll play any recent games on these, but I would easily see these in productivity machines without any problem. More than likely, along with -F Intel CPUs.

So the 7950 lives on...

What does it matter to you? Or any of us. Those aren't the kind of GPUs anyone would buy for a gaming PC. They would work in office PCs or home PCs that are only used to read email, surf the net, pay the bills, etc. Guru3D also won't review such video cards because there's nothing guru about them. But it's still hardware news, so I can see Hilbert would mention it. When someone sees RX600 mentioned later on somewhere, they will now know what it's all about and especially what it's not.

Wow rx600 must be faster than rx500. :P

Not really at all. Also something to think about for everyone, this is not an uncommon thing Nvidia and AMD do for the OEM market. These aren't mainstream level cards anyway, so not going to have any real affect on that market.

Well, the part that's especially confusing is what market specifically they're targeting: Both Intel and AMD offer integrated graphics that are better Nvidia offers parts that will likely have a similar price point and are probably lower wattage High-end workstations that don't need a lot of GPU power and don't have an iGPU would likely opt for something like a low-end Quadro or FirePro/Radeon Pro, where you get better driver support and more display connectors. If you're on a tight budget and need to upgrade an old system, you're probably better off buying something from a few generations ago, or even something used. If you don't care about any of the above, the market is already saturated with low-end crap. Furthermore, products around this performance tier all pretty much cost the same (between $35-$80). The MSRP difference between the 610 and 625 is probably going to be within $5 from each other (realistically, you will probably find them sold for the same price). I understand AMD wants to maximize binning, but really... who honestly cares about such minimal differences? Just release the 625 and if the silicon quality isn't good enough to meet that then it's probably not worth selling anyway.

It makes sense to me. With increased OEM uptake but CPUs not having igpu like intel, low to middle budget rigs will need separate gpu, which is typically at some cost to end user and means systems less desirable. If you can cheaply reuse old hardware, update some bits for most modern requirements whilst using existing compatibility - that allows you to easily make a functional product. It also means OEM can have full AMD rig which is cheaper for those who need office or similar tier requirements whilst waiting for new Apus to arrive. It also means amd sells more GPUs, which is good for business!

I wonder if those will be on the real sweetspot of polaris chips (perf/watt).
