Not really sure the point of these SSD's if they're just an exact copy of somebody else's, just seems like a marketing exercise. I suppose if they're cheaper than the models they're based on then that would be something, if they're more expensive, then you may as well write R7 in biro on your SSD if you like the label that much!

Do we really need another to the SSD market? Crucial/Samsung is all you need.

More the better, while this dosent really qualify as competition, the more there is the lower the prices.

You should realize that if there only was Samsung and Crucial, you'd be paying a lot more for much slower SSDs.

So the OEM could very well be OCZ Storage Solutions and thus Toshiba
If you look at the bottom of the slides it says " Radeon R7 series SSD brought to you by OCZ Storage Solutions" so you don't need to look too far for confirmation of that. :P

LOL -- completely did not see that. Well, at least my assumption was a good one 🙂

How would you like to pay for 5k on a 32GB with extremely low Mbps ?

In addition, this let them certify the SSD, controllers to work on their chipsets. Important for OEM, less for standard consumer, as i doubt you will find so much of them in the corner street shop's. It is the same for DDR, allowing full combo for OEM vendors / builders ( i think specifically to little vendors of prebuild PC ( mostly only sold there ones on their country ) .. Motherboard - CPU - DDR -SSD - PSU, ( along with GPU ). I dont think they really want to "fight in the SSD market competition".

I don't see why people are complaining, almost everything you buy in the hardware world is essentially rebranded or using another companies basic design. - Power Supplies - Memory (RAM) - Monitor screens - GPU's - Motherboards - Optical Drives The list goes on, it's nothing new.

If that were to occur then instead of a few hundred dollars for SSDs then you would be paying a few thousand dollars.

Yeah look at Corsair's hydro series of liquid CPU coolers they are rebranded.

Correct guys !! more SSD brands , cheaper they get in the long run. Now we need ASUS to make SATA3 SSD'S !!

They should have called it R9 SSDs because some people don´t have much knowledge and take decisions based on nomenclatures. Yeah. :wanker:

"...30GB/day of host writes for 4 years under typical client workloads." What is a typical client workload?
