the fact these two mGPU are comparable is the news.
the 4090m is a mighty gpu design and imho, the most elegant of the Lovelace gen by staying within modest heat/power settings.
the 7900m on paper outperforms the rx7800, which afaik is a first for either red or green with the mobile vs desktop nomenclature

So they took two high end laptop GPUs and tested them in Geekbench instead of testing in gaming...

a major test is noise as well for me. i know damn well if i'm gaming i need to wear a headset as the fans ramp up.
right now there are only limited choices of laptops/cooling systems/configurations as they milk the highest end first.
if a chunky laptop with a 4090m or 7900m is quieter than the thin and light 15" i prefer i will go chunky this time. just have to wait for the less than 64gb RAM choices to appear. 32gb will do nicely and since i have network storage i don't need more than 2Tb onboard...

7900m looks like a 7900 GRE spected with a lower power limit.
