I hope to hear their reasoning for the dent in the shroud.

No, it actually decreases efficiency of blower. = = = = Interesting part on this GPU is, that it is showing where regular 5700 XT can go in terms of clock. (If one is willing to use that TDP.) And it is likely that just flashing this vBIOS to regular 5700 XT will make it behave in same manner. Question is: Can regular clock as high even with same voltage boost? (Depends on binning.)

So the claim is that it helps a tiny bit on acoustics, performance wise it will not make a difference. Basically, it's aesthetics ..

I'd say it's the new-age Kung-Fu Grip, but if that were the case, Lisa is holding it wrong.

LOL Im sure that is actually true since it will impede sound a hair but its likely less than 1% unless it helps with turbulence somehow but I doubt it.

They mentioned that reference design has metallic cover. That itself will deal with acoustics more than anything else.

I'm sure it'll also help dissipate a decent amount of heat too, at least if there's enough ambient airflow.

They should've went just a tiny bit farther and make it 2 GHz boost clock!

^Why not 2.2 GHz for a 50 dB edition...

What's the hold up with bigger 5800xt version? 2070 perf. won't do it for me 😀

Or contact with vapor chamber.

I like the way the "dent" looks, sort of accentuates the flow of the blower path visually. I see they reserved the square brick look for the 5700, apparently. At any rate, does it matter?...;)

Aside from the subtle aesthetics, I think the dent is to signify a fresh, new start that distances them from the same old, same old of the past.

Acoustics is only thing that matters. I believe they can design cooler good enough to keep GPU reasonably cool.
