Well, so we were just fed with rumors not to buy GeForce 970/980. Kinda expected... I suppose then we'll get some kind of paper launch, and the card will be in limited availability around October.

Damn AMD, you are no making it hard for me to not buy a Nvidia card soon. My computer is scraming for a couple of new GPU's!

There will be a lot of products on E3. Sadly many will not be good due to poor choices on manufacturer side. Acer apparently has E15 notebook (15") with Fx-8800p (512SP) and pairs it with dGPU which has 384SP, and asking price will be quite high. But there for sure will be bunch of devices which will be impressive. I more wonder about retail vs OEM R9-300 series, and if retail will skips generation or use same/similar naming. There is card with HBM, HBM itself brings quite performance boost, those few saved watts will got towards GPU performance and makes 4096SP realistic and good enough to face Titan X. But it is still speculation and there is still chance that r9-390x will be on 14nm considering time in year and state of Samsung/GloFo. I do remember 1st 28nm GPU...

They probably moved the launch to E3 to use it to showcase DX12 in all its glory at the PC Gaming Event.

The only expected DirectX12 games so far are Fable Legends and Battlefield probably anyway.

This is getting ridiculous.

Got sick of waiting. Bought 2 MSI 980's. @1460Mhz Runs GTA so smoothly at 4K upscaled on my 1080 27". Though i run it at 2440 instead though to maintain solid smooth 60 capped.

This seems to be the case. I mean windows 10 with dx12 is launching in that timeframe to and what beter show to flex your muscles then E3. But now we have a release date for the 300 series at least \o/

I can patiently wait a few weeks. Nvidia did a good job of ignoring Kepler, so I'm interested to see what this 390x will be like.

How did Nvidia ignore Kepler?

Not saying Nvidia is actively hindering performance for their older cards, but for new games kepler has been pretty much poor showing. No surprises though, they gotta make Maxwell look good. Anyways, also disapprove of Gameworks, so this is why this 390X interests me.

I wonder if they will actually launch the card at E3 or soon afterwards, or if it's a paperlaunch, and you'll be able to really get your hands on them in September... :frown:

Idk, based on the rumors and what we know about HBM and the interposer they are using, I think it will be a hard launch, but I also think that the supply will be low at the start. If the pricing is as high as some of the rumors claim, I guess it will deter some people from buying though. Had this card launched a month or two ago, I probably would have bought one. But now I figure I might as well wait until 16nm. I don't think HBM itself is going to have a major impact on performance. There doesn't seem to be many games hitting the bandwidth cap on current cards, even at 4K.

It is still on Q2 so oh well. I am gunning for cards coming next year anyways 🙂
