While they are at the X business, they should release a 380X with the GCN 1.2 architecture and 4GB of memory, and I'd finally have a card to buy. I'm sure they could pull it off with their experience gained from the original Tonga and now Fiji.

It's basically a 7870, which was renamed 270X and it had some higher clocks. 370X is a higher clocked 270X with better efficiency than either 270X or 7870 because of the more efficient GDDR5 ram modules AMD used for all 300 series. Still an awesome card.

no freesync support ..... sigh,... jesus raptor christ AMD
*gasp* don't take our savior's name in vain! He took a meteor for our sins! On a more serious note though - AMD needs to drop the X suffix. It's unnecessary and they have to keep filling in all the gaps with 3-year-old rebrands.

Amd and its competitor just can´t take entry level pc gaming to the next level... so boring and so disappointing for the supposed leaders in graphics tech.

You want better you are going to have to pay more.

Or wait, pricey cards aren´t my cup of tea, usually not that fast for the most demanding games and too fast for the rest... and by the time they are put to good use, they aren´t worth a peanut.

They should lose the r9/r7 crap, in addition to dropping the "X"s`. It should just be r370.
I agree, but I think they've mostly just been following intel's naming scheme (which is also idiotic, maybe even more so). I think the idea behind it is to get a rough idea what the performance is like without actually looking at the specs.
Furthermore, they should not have x70 card competing with an x50 card from the competition.
I think this has a lot to do with IGPs. Since nvidia doesn't make them for x86 anymore, they have the privilege of spreading out the numbers more.
And when 14nm chips come. There should not be different cards for mobile and desktop. It all should just be one line... desktop cards just could be clocked higher, maybe mobile would miss the very top end one. And APU`s would contain for example - r320 or something.
I definitely agree there - that's something that has always bothered me for years (intel and nvidia are guilty of this too). Mobile "enthusiast" GPUs have often been as good as desktop mainstream GPUs; not just in terms of numbers but real-world performance. It's all a marketing ploy, but it's annoying.

Imagine how clear and simple all their products would look then. But this all would be reasonable... and thats not the world we live in.

Yep they have to adopt "Ti" instead of "X" because that instantly makes it a perfect name. :infinity:

This is crazy...I thought they have already launched 270X. GTX 950 will be huge in China. AMD needs to put up a fight. If Pitcairn is all they have so be it. Better late than never.

I don´t see how the 950 can be huge in China, even in USA and Europe most people think it´s overpriced... imagine China or other places where we get inflated prices and low salaries.

Every GTX x50 is huge in China. This time around it goes against ancient Pitcairn. This is not a terrible position for AMD to be in, Pitcairn being proly the best all-around GCN product, but it's not ideal either, lacking all the latest AMD monikers. China is NV(Jensen's) playing ground.

We shall see, if we see a substantial price cut within the next couple of months then they weren´t selling that much.

idd 750/Ti haven't been selling all that well (not that they mind since everyone simply got 970) but now with 950 release their prices are considerably down
data/avatar/default/avatar36.webp
750 aint brand new, and in china and other places you don´t see price slashes like in the USA because importers and stores won´t take the loss. Things work differently. I know China is the dream market for lots of corps, but they usually get there with very cheap prices... 950 is like the opposite lol.
