Kidding aside, most people don't notice the feature and therefore the ones who do simply abuse it. It reflects badly on articles which have genuinely good information. So for example this thread was originally rated 5 starts but had 0 comments...

Yes, but you're trying to tell people what they can and can not up or down vote. Um, i'm sorry, but that's called censorship, last i checked....that's not cool. If you don't like something being downvoted, or upvoted, you have your vote, and that's all you have, and that's all you should get, just like the rest of us. But instead, you're complaining because you feel your vote isn't good enough because you do not believe the voting represents the actual results of the news article. Well, news flash, you're not everyone, and your opinion is not everyones, so deal with it. I will never understand why people actually TRY to get censorship implemented. "Well, you're this guy, and you look like a fanboy, so your vote doesn't matter, no matter if its valid or not in my eyes" If the owners of this forum/website end up "doing something" about it, like you request, what is even the point, if the voting is censored and skewed? Might as well not even have it then.

Ooh. I have noticed those stars sometimes, but I never paid any attention to how they got there. Only now I noticed the "Rate this story" dropdown menu. Not that I'd start using it or care about the stars. I read all the personally interesting looking news and reviews Guru3D posts, I couldn't care less about how other people rate them. I'm more interested in the comments people post, as comments take some effort to write.

You've blown this way out of proportion. Something simple such as only being allowed to vote if you've contributed useful information to the article in the form of a comment would suffice.

How would that be useful? And what defines "useful contribution"? Who decides that? And why should someone have to make a comment, useful or not, to rate what they think about something? Someone may think something is bad and have absolutely no desire to write about it, that doesn't mean their opinion does not matter. I'm not saying that it's not great when people state what they like or dislike about something when they vote, but that doesn't even remotely mean that someone who does not want to write some long paragraph about whatever it is they are talking about's opinion does not matter.
