That's why AMD is loved in the Linux and free and open source community. Having the GPU drivers built-in gives a new Linux user so much leverage and a path to gaming under other OS. If only other greener companies would shift their vision in this direction. If only.

Reshade filter incoming (because let's be honest that's what this is)....

Then it'd be the first one to not make everything run worse and look like garbage.

so it's lanczos filtering I've used it many times for resizing photos - it's free.not that great tho.decent but visual difference between native and upscaled is easily visible. if you wanna see how it works download same image in fhd and qhd resolutions and use free irfanview software to upscale it.

Will be interesting to see how well it works with RT in RE:V - also with RT on nVidia cards.

NVidia have their own native things... So i would not expect so much. And as i have said previously DLSS and SuperResolution are just to hide that the GPU still doesn't have the capacity to handle modern display at high fps. (A bit like in the Crysis era wherethe most high end GPU were barely able to get medium setting at barely correct fps once OC)

Looking forward to DLSS 2.x vs FSR comparison in Necromunda Hired Gun

Wouldn't expect much how? It renders at lower resolution and upscales the image and presto you get more performance, regardles of who the GPU manufacturer is.

amd is hated in the open source community.

So both sharpening and negative Mip LOD Bias that kind of explain the shimmering when upscaling from lower resolutions. ReShade can not inject shaders before any game post-fx or game UI so not really any point except for maybe screenshots with UI turned off if there is no noise or similar effects. Might as well just supersample for screenshots. I still like both FSR and DLSS thou both seem more useful at higher resolutions unless adjusting in game settings is not enough. 🙂

90% of graphics is just faking stuff so that it takes the least amount of performance and still looks ok. Don't see why DLSS and FSR should be singled-out here.

What for? GPU or CPU related? If for CPU - PSP code, then yes. If for GPU, I don't see why. i am genuinely curious, can you elaborate, please?

you can download a demo too where can compare bicubic scale vs FSR (all profiles) and native in two scenes on the fly it is quite interesting in my opinion

NO IS NOT. If you read the code, the process takes place very early in the pipeline, it even utilizes FP16 on GPUs supporting it for better graphics etc. IS NOT a post processing solution.

Heavily modifed lanczos-2. Is not the same thing.

Since when? What you smoke? Nvidia is the cancer of the open source community, not AMD where everything is open even the core kernel stuff. Hell same machine same game, Manjaro with MESA drivers is 20% faster than Windows!! Same res, same settings.

Sure, some hate AMD in the open-source community, but most don't.

It's mostly just a bunch of princesses who are picky and not getting everything they expected. Or they get a lemon of a GPU (most likely user error - I don't believe any computer hardware is ever truly DOA when new) and swear vengeance or whatever. There are also those who want better compute support, but, most of such users go to Nvidia. Nvidia's negatives with open-source hardly matter at all when compute performance is your #1 priority, and Nvidia is still overall the better option for compute.

You are, probably, confusing it with nVidia. [youtube=_36yNWw_07g]

It's an optimized Lanczos-2 with edge-guided interpolation. It makes use of FP16 when supported for additional performance.
