Well that's... stupid, to say the least. Could've at least done a die shrink or boost some clocks here and there. Seems to me it'll just cause unnecessary confusion. But like I said the other day, they're probably intentionally holding off the 600 series until the mining craze dies down, and buying themselves more time.

If it's for OEM, then it's not stupid. OEM asks, OEM gets. As for waiting, I do agree with you that it is reasonable economical decision. They just have to keep close eye on demand and not to overproduce. But taking into consideration that as miners decrease demand, AMD/nV will be finally selling again to gamers who are waiting for price to touch MSRP.

OEM rebrands or OEM specific models are confusing. If it's different, don't name it the same as another product and transversely, don't give a new name to an old, released product (like here). This is a problem with Nvidia too, or has been.

*GPU specifications and features may vary by OEM configuration. Please refer to OEM websites for shipping specifications.

Why does it seem that every man and his dog is against re-branding and confusing things, except when it comes to Big Businesses? Who are these Marketing people who think, I know, we need to really confuse the entire consumer base of our product by adding an X - because the development arm of the company hasn't been able to do anything with a new design for the past year.

This makes me very sorry to have bought AMD shares. 🙁

Well, I do see a card on the top right corner that doesn't have the stock, blower style cooler. Maybe that's what they've changed.

It's not the marketing teams at AMD (or NVIDIA etc), but the OEMs who request new series every year even if it's the exact same as last years series. That's why we've had HD 8000 -series on AMD, GeForce 100 & 300 -series on NVIDIA etc.
